John Lawrence of Frederick Co. Codicil dtd. 3 April 1782, weak.
To son John Stephen Lawrence: tract Bite the Biter where I live and all of Mount Pleasant of 300a that lies on the north and northeast side of Linganore, where Col. Dorsey's mill stands called Beaver Dam Brartclt and the other small tracts adjoining, Poor Hill and Pretty Polly of 45a. Also the two patents not yet obtained, but the certificates are in the office and the fees paid.
To son Upton: Cumstone's Place of 150a, the part of Mount Pleasant belonging to me
on the south side of Murrey's/Dorsey's Branch of Linganore, and the south side of Beaver Dam Branch. This part lies distinct from the part willed to John. I may have sold a part between to Col. Dorsey. Also a tract adjoining, being part of Brandy Sprirlgs Enlarged and two other tracts, Pleasant Forest and Mullineux Chance of 223a.
To four daughters, Ann West Lawrence, Susannah Lawrence, Rachel Lawrence and Elizabeth Lawrence equally: tract Cold Friday of 420a and £50 to each when of age or marry. If son John dies before he is of age and without heirs, his land to Upton, provided he gives up the land
devised to him to my daughters. But if he chooses to keep it, then John's land to rcvcrt to my daughters. If Upton dies, land to daughters. Whereas I own a tract Slipe adjoining John Campbell of 14a not yet patented but the certificate returned, my executors are to sell it to him if he pays the caution money and other fees, interest, and assessment.
