      answer to the complaint of John Skinner. On June 19, 1756, Stallings made
      a note with Skinner in Frederick Co. John Skinner, Junr. witnessed the
      note. Stallings later failed to pay and a complaint was filed.

I Joseph Stallings planter for £49.. 1..1 now due and owing to Richard Snowden of AAC, iron master, sell Negroes Hannah, a woman about 30 years of age; Negro Boy, Danell, now about 12; Negro girl named Rosse, about 10 years of age, and one Negro girl named Priss about 15 months old; 10 head of black cattle; and all my household goods and furniture, and also my crop of tobacco now in the house, stript and to strip; provided always, and it is the true intent, if! do well and truly pay unto Richard Snowden the above sum, then this is void.       V:68. Joseph Stallings recorded release 28 Jan. 1774, from Colin Dunlop & Son, merchants of
      Glasgow, Scotland. Whereas 16 Nov. 1770, he made over six Negroes and their increase to
      secure loan, he has bargained with John Hawkins, near the Falls of Potomac, for one of the said
      Negroes, a mulatto girl named Avarilla, for £75, to be paid Adam Stewart on behalf of the said
      Colin Dunlap, and he releases the said girl from the mortgage. Signed by Adam Stewart
