Charles County Land Records 1786-1790; Liber D#4; Page 12. Bond of conveyance, recorded at the request of John Gwinn. I, Lilburne Williams of Frederick County, am bound to John Gwinn of CC in the just sum of 500 , to be paid to th sd John Gwinn, the which payment truly to be made, I bind myself this Nov 9, 1786. Whereas Alice Hawkins, the wife of John Hawkins of Alexandria, Virginia, and Mary Williams, the wife of the afd Lilburne Williams, are daughters and coheiresses of Doctor Adam Thompson, late of Prince George' County, decd, and were seized of undivided moieties of lots #61 and 62 in Charles Town, commonly called Port Tobacco, and whereas the sd John Hawkins and Alice, his wife, have sold to the afd John Gwinn, their undivided part of the sd lots, and sd Lilburne Williams and Mary, his wife have also for a valuable consideration, sold to ad John Gwinn their undivided part of sd lots. But on account of the infancy of sd Mary, a legal conveyance of the same cannot be made by s Lelburne and Mary, his wife, to sd John Gwinn. Now the condition of the above obligation is such that if sd Lilburne Williams shall, after his wife arrives at full age when required by sd Gwinn, make Gwinn a good deed in fee simple, then the above obligation to be void. Signed - Lil Williams. Wit - Will Halkerstone, The Harris Jr. Recorded Nov 9, 1786.

Indenture made this November 10, 1787; Whereas John Hawkins of Fairfax County, Virginia and Alice Hawkins his wife by deed of indenture bearing date November 8, 1786 did sell unto William Sprigg Bowie of PGCo and undivided moiety of two tracts called "Belts Pasture" and the "Horse Race" containing 360 3/8 acres which Alice Hawkins became entitled to in coparcenery with her sister Mary Williams has heir of Adam Thompson late of PGCo, deceased. Which both tracts begin at a stone in the Cabbin Branch where formerly stood a bounded white oak, the beginning of "Belts Pasture" and a bounded tree of Col. John Biggers land now in possession of John Read Magruder and bounded by the Western Branch. And whereas William Sprigg Bowie has conveyed his rights to the moiety of the aforesaid lands to Rinaldo Johnson but the deed of indenture bearing date November 8, 1786 has not been duly executed. Now this indenture witnesseth that John Hawkins and Alice Hawkins in consideration of the premises and 169 pounds 9 shilling current money of Maryland paid by Rinaldo Johnson has sold the aforesaid moiety.
