      THIS INDENTURE made the 13th day of September in year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Eighty three Between JOHN ROBERTS and SALLEY his Wife and JOSEPH ROBERTS of County of Culpeper of one part and JOHN FIELD of County aforesaid of other part Whereas GEORGE ROBERTS deceased by his last Will and Testament in writing made bearing date the Fifth day of September 1774 and duly recorded in County Court of Culpeper did give and devise unto his Sons, JOHN ROBERTS & JOSEPH ROBERTS, two tracts of land one of which the said GEORGE ROBERTS then lived on containing by Estimation One hundred and ninety six acres more or less, the other being a tract of land GEORGE ROBERTS bought of WILLIAM MORGAN containing by Estimation Three hundred and twenty four acres, to be equally divided between the said JOHN ROBERTS & JOSEPH ROBERTS NOW THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH that JOHN ROBERTS & SALLY his Wife and JOSEPH ROBERTS for the full & just sum of Twelve hundred pounds current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by JOHN FIELD by these presents do bargain and sell unto JOHN FIELD the two tracts of land lying in the County aforesaid, the last of which said Tracts of land is bounded Begining at a red Oak in COLO. WILLIAM BEVERLEYs line and Corner to BENJAMIN ROBERTS in the Great Fork of RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER runing thence with said ROBERTS line South forty three degrees West One hundred and Eighteen poles to one white Oak, Corner to FRANCIS KIRTLEY, thence with the said KIRTLEYs line North thirty six degrees West sixty poles to two white Oaks, Corner to JOHN KILGORE, thence with KILGOREs North fifty four degrees West One hundred and ninety eight poles to one white Oak & Willow, Corner to WILLIAM PAYTON, thence with PAYTONs line North twenty five degrees East seventy poles to one white Oak, thence North forty five degrees West one hundred & ten poles to two white Oaks on HAMMONDS BRANCH, Corner to DANIEL HUFF, thence with HUFFs line North fifty eight degrees East one hundred & forty two pole to two white Oaks and one red Oak in COLO. WILLIAM BEVERLEYs line, thence with his line South thirty eight degrees East three hundred & fifty seven poles to the begining Together with all houses Orchards and appurtenances to the same belonging To have and to hold the said two tracts of land with the appurtenances unto JOHN FIELD his heirs and JOHN ROBERTS & SALLY his Wife & JOSEPH ROBERTS doth hereby warrant and will forever defend the said two tracts of land unto JOHN FIELD his heirs free and clear of all Incumbrances In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands & Seals the day & year first above written

      This Indenture was acknowledged by JOHN ROBERTS & ordered to be recorded as to him with Commission thereto annexed & Certificate thereon endorsed which is also ordered to be recorded

      John Field, Culpeper. £26.4.6. He now lives in Woodford Co ., Ky., very able. He was in Madison County about ten days ago and told Daniel Field, Esq., of that county that he had paid the whole of the above debt, amounting with interest to about £50, to the agent of William Glassel] in Kentucky.
