We, Basil Roberts and Ann, his wife, John Clary and Esther, his wife, Solomon Stimson and Dorcas, his wife, and John Dowden Coffy of M, the heirs and representatives of Michael Dowden, decd, for 1600 £paid or secured to be paid by Carlton Belt of M to Rachel Dowden, widow and relict of the afd Michael Dowden, have released and forever quitted claim to sd Carlton Belt, all manner of our right to a Negro woman named Pegg, by reason of anything contained in the will of the afd Michael Dowden, or for any other reason. Apr 15, 1780 from Richard Veatch of M, planter, to Carlton Belt of M, planter, for 10,000 £, 3 tracts of land in M, the 1st being part of a tract of land called Progress, it being part of that part of the sd tract of land called Progress which was devised to him by the will of his father, John Veatch, together with a part of the Resurvey thereon, as resurveyed for John Veatch on Aug 7, 1766, beginning for the outlines thereof at the end of 54 perches on the 2nd line of Progress, it being the original beginning of John Veatches part of Progress, then to the waters of Mill Branch, then to the part of the Resurvey on Progress as conveyed to Elizabeth Willson for 35-1/2 acres, containing about 159 acres. Also another part of the afd tract of land called Progress, as formerly conveyed by Ezekiel Goslin to John Veatch for 3 acres.
