Mr. Humpherie Haggate, atty. to James Lee, Plt.; George Thompson, atty. to Francis Pope, Def.; Lee was empowered by the will of Joseph Lenton to see after his estate and assist his wife and 2 children; funeral debt of 1692# of tobacco; Capt. Battin, age ca 43 years, states that James Lee came to his house saying Joseph Lenton's wife was dead and desired to have some drinks and mourning ribbon for her funeral; because of bad weather he tarried a day and drank one of the 3 barrels ordered for the funeral Humpherie Haggate, age ca 33 years, swore Ursula Lenton, widow, came to his house and stated her husband was dead and had made a will empowering James Lee and John Tomkinson as overseers; Mr. Woodberie made out the will; the overseers agreed with John Williams to live there and manage her business
