GASSAWAY, JAMES. James Gassaway, son of Nicholas, was born in
Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He and wife Rachel sold their land
in Frederick County in 1770. "He was not the head of a family in
Maryland at the 1790 census, but had settled at Union County,
South Carolina, where he was the head of his household. Nearby
was Nicholas Gassaway the head of a family with young children."
