=== Marylanders to Carolina-Henry C. Peden, Jr.
BILLINGSLEY, JOHN. John Billingsley, son of James Billingsley
and Elizabeth Crabtree, was born on August 17, 1754 in St. Mary's
County, Maryland. He moved with his parents to Baltimore County,
Maryland circa 1758 and from there they moved to Guilford County,
North Carolina. He married Jean Milsap in June, 1772, and they
had the following children: Sarah Billingsley (born April, 1773,
and married Alexander Hale); Jessie Billingsley; Elizabeth
Billingsley; James Billingsley (married Rebecca Hale); Thomas
Billingsley (born 1781 in Onslow County, and married Rebecca
Crawford); Mary Billingsley; John Billingsley, Jr. (born March 7,
1786); Samuel Billingsley (born February 11, 1789); and, Jane
Billingsley (married Edward Mercer). John was a Private in the
North Carolina Militia in 1776 and served under Capt. McFadden in
Rutherford County. He enlisted again in 1777 in Randolph County,
North Carolina. About 1794 he moved over the mountains into
Sullivan County, Tennessee, and then into Washington County circa
1797. He applied for a pension (S30862) on December 23, 1833,
aged 80, in Warren County, Kentucky, where he lived with his son
John. Jean Billingsley died in February, 1842, and John died in
September, 1844 (Ref: VDW-263, and For King and Country, by the
