      Att a Court held at Mr. HUGH LEE's House, County of Northumberland, the 20th day of February 1650/1
      Whereas ROBERT SHARPE hath summoned to this Court witnesses to prove the FAME of a Presentmt, given in by the CHURCH WARDENS of CHICKACOME agt. GEORGE THOMPSON, the Court doth therefore order that the said THOMPSON shall forthwith make payment of the costs of the chardges written

      HEN: HAYLER. aged 34 or thereabouts being sworne & examined saith that GEORGE THOMPSON did use and frequent the House of RICHARD HOLDEN before said HOLDEN came to live at CHICACONE when the Wife of the said HOLDEN was there on his Land and when she said (torn) whether thought ( ) preferred a bed to ( ) by this Deponent ( ) would finde a bed and this Depont, have seene him ye said THOMPSON in bed with GRACE HOLDEN and saw her naked thigh when he was in bed with her. This Depont. told the said THOMPSON that RICHARD HOLDEN would be offended with him if he saw soe much the said THOMPSON confessed to have laid with the said GRACE in Virginia & with MRS. ELLIOTT & MRS. TEMPERANCE POPPITT & that he slept with the said MRS. ELLIOTT & TEMPERANCE in HOLDENs Bed. When RICHARD HOLDEN came up he forbad THOMPSON his House or else he would shoote him if he came any more. THOMPSON said he would shoote him first. This Depont. told him he would be hanged then, he said ( ) and further saith not

      ANNE COMPTON aged 27 or thereabouts being sworne & examined saith that being at GEORGE THOMPSONs on Christmass Day in the morning last, JAMES CLAUGHTON haveing carried a (loine ?) of Venison to GEORGE THOMPSON at RICHARD HOLDENs House ( ) & told MRS. THOMPSON in this Deponts. heareing that her Husband was in naked bed with GRACE HOLDEN, she haveing bene brought to bed but five dayes before; And further this Depont, saith not,

      GEORGE NOTT aged (24 ?) or thereabouts being sworne & examined saith tht he this Depont. being at the House of RICHARD HOLDEN in January last on ( ) or there-abouts where was a short time GEORGE THOMPSON and this Depont. being intreated by HENRY HOLDEN to stay all night, he did soe, and after supper they all repaireing to their Lodging, GRACE HOLDEN did asks GEORGE THOMPSON where he would lodge; he answered he would finde a Lodging; This Depont. when he went to bed saw GEORGE THOMPSON pull his hatt doublett & stocking off and soe fall asleepe & in the morning he saw the said THOMPSON & GRACE HOLDEN in bed togeather with the bed clothes tucked in closer at THOMPSONs backe his face & hers being close togeather, And further saith not
      My hand this days, ROBERT NEWMAN, RICE MADDOX. Wee of the Jury find for the Defendt. the Six hundred pounds of Tobo: wch : he hath paid & doe finde it to be his due, GEFFERY GOUCH RICHARD TURNEY
