Montgomery County Land Records, 1777-1781; Liber A1, Page 609. Bond, recorded at the request of Thomas Offutt. I, Sarah Offutt, widow in M, am bound to Thomas Offutt of M, 500 sterling, to the payment of which I bind myself this Nov 20, 1777, to warrant that I, from this time on, will allow sd Thomas Offutt, to possess, hold, occupy, and enjoy all that parcel of land that I included in a resurvey called the Addition to William & James, containing 112 acres, as mentioned in the certificate. Signed - Sarah Offutt. Wit - Henry Child (Childs), George H. Offutt, Edwd Burgess*. Recorded Mar 14, 1781.

Montgomery County Land Records, 1777-1781; Liber A1, Page 627. Mar 14, 1781 from George Hambleton Offutt of M, planter, to Thomas Offutt of M, planter. Whereas Sarah Offutt, late of M, decd, in her lifetime (to wit) on Apr 4, 1750, had granted to her by patent, a tract of land called the Addition to the William and James, lying formerly in Prince George's, then in Frederick, but now in M, containing 82 acres, and whereas afterwards (to wit) on Oct 27, in the year last afd, she had granted to her, a special warrant to resurvey the afd tract of land called the Addition to the William and James, containing 82 acres as afd, for the purpose of adding some vacant land, contiguous thereto, by virtue of which warrant, the afd tract of land was resurveyed, and by the certificate thereof, remaining of record in the Land Office of Maryland, it appears that the same contains the exact quantity of 82 acres, and that there is the quantity of 112 acres of vacancy added, and although the same being reduced into one entire tract, retains the name of the Addition to the William and James. And whereas the sd Sarah Offutt, for 120 to her paid by the afd Thomas Offutt, by her certain writing obligatory, recorded on Mar 14, 1781 among the Land records of M, ack. herself to be bound to the afd Thomas Offutt in the sum of 500 sterling, for the payment whereof, sd Sarah Offutt did bind herself, upon condition, nevertheless, that if she, the sd Sarah Offutt, should convey to sd Thomas Offutt, all that parcel of land that the sd Sarah Offutt included in a resurvey called the Addition to the William and James, containing 112 acres, as mentioned in the certificate, then sd writing obligatory was to be void. And whereas the afd Sarah Offutt, before the conveyance of the 112 acres from her to Thomas Offutt, sd Sarah Offutt departed this life. And by her will, she appointed George Hambleton Offutt, one of the parties hereto, to be her sole Executor, and whereas also the sd George Hambleton Offutt has taken upon himself the execution thereof, he, as executor, is become liable under the writing obligatory afd, to convey the 112 acres to sd Thomas Offutt. Now this deed witnesses that the afd George Hambleton Offutt, for 5 shillings, has granted to the afd Thomas Offutt, the 112 acres above described. Signed - George H. Offutt. Wit - Edwd Burgess*, Walter Beall*. Recorded May 28, 1781.
