      IN YE NAME OF GOD, Amen, ye 9th day of Aprill in ye year of our Lord God 1698
      I JOHN WOOD of Essex County in Virga: being very sicke & weak in body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto God therefore, calling to mind ye mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye, do make & ordaine this my last Will &Testamt.; that is to say, principally & first of all I give & recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I comend it to ye earth to be buried in a Christian like & decent manner at ye discretion of my Exex, nothing doubting but at ye gent. resurrection I shall receive ye same again by ye mighty power of God & as touching such worldly estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life, I give devise & dispose of ye same ye following manner & form after my just debts
      Imprs, I will & bequeath to FRANCES, my dearly beloved Wife, one feather bed rugg & blankett, bolster & pillows & furniture thereto belonging;
      Item I give to my well beloved Son, JNO: WOOD, one feather bed rugg blankett & bolstr:
      Item I give to my beloved Son, THOMAS, a feather bed ticking a rugg & a pr. of blankets & to each of my Sons, two guns a peice to be well fixt. and in good order, to be delivered & also that ye bed & furniture before mentioned wch: I leave to my two Sons, be repaired with new tickin ruggs blanketts & bolsters when delivered when ye two Children are at Seventeen years of age
      Item I give to my beloved Daughter, ELIZABETH WOOD, my Bible;
      Item I give to my Sister, HILL, six Ells of Linen;
      Item I give to my Father, a large sute & a caster hatt;
      Item I give to my Mother, four yards of Sarge & a halfe;
      Item my pewtr: to be equally divided between ye Mothr: & her two Sons and Daughter, as my Cattle & all my other estate to be equally divided between my Wife & my three Children, only one Mare wch: I give to my Wife & one Horse to my Son, JOHN, & for my working tooles for ye good of ye Plantacon; I likewise constitute make & ordaine my loveing Wife, FRANCES WOOD, & my Father, THOS: WOOD, my only & sole Exers, of this my last Will & Testamt., & I do hereby utterly disallow revoke & disannull all & every other former Testa,mt, Wills & Legacies, ratifieing & confirming this & none other to be my last Will & Testamt,, In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal ye day & year above written;

County in the just sum of Thirty thousand pds. of tobacco & caske, to the which payment we bind ourselves our heirs firmly by these presents; Witness our hands & seales this 10th day of Janry: 1698
      The Condicon of this obligacon is such that if ye above bound THO: WOOD & FRANCES WOOD, who a Court held for the County of Essex ye 10th day of Janry: 1698 obtained a Probate of ye last Will & Testmt. of JNO.       KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I EDWARD MOSLEY of the County of Rappahannock do for the valluable consideration of Three thousand Six hundred pounds of Tobb: already by Bill paid do sell unto JOHN WOOD of the sd County his heires a certain parcel of land lying adjacent to the Plantation where I now dwell that is to say, (Vitt)., beginning at a white Oak on the South side of a branch on the MAINE ROAD side and runing along the sd Branch til it comes to my outside line and thence along my outside line till it comes to the MAINE ROAD thence along the sd ROAD to the afore men cioned white Oake where it first began and do give to the sd JOHN WOOD his heires forever with all rights and appurtenances belonging To have and to hold to his proper use and behoof without any hindrance of the sd EDWARD MOSLEY or any persons under me And Further the said EDWARD MOSELEY doth oblige himself at the reasonable request of the sd JOHN WOOD to acknowledge the aforesd. land in person at the first or second Court on either side of the River of Rappa: the sd JOHN WOOD paying the rents shall be due to our Sovereigne Lord the King In Witness the sd EDWARD MOSLEY path sett his hand and seale this eleventh day of May 1686

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I EDWARD MOSELEY of the County of Rappa. do for a valuable consideration of Four thousands of Tobb. already by Bill received grant sell and confirme unto JOHN WOOD his heires forever a certain parcell of land be it more or less Beginning at a marked white Oake on the MANE ROAD side and running up the MANE ROAD unto the line of TOBIAS INGRAM thence along the sd INGRAMs line unto a line which was formerly RICHARD COLEMANs, thence South along the sd line till it comes to a PATH which is commonly called RICHARD GOODS PATH, thence down the sd PATH to the place where it began and do hereby give from me my heires to the sd JOHN WOOD forever with all its rights and appertenances together with all houses buildings and all other appertenances belonging together with all the premises to his proper use without any lett of the sd MOSELEY his heires or any other person under me claiming and further the sd EDWARD MOSELEY doth oblige himselfe to acknowledge the aforesd land in person at the first Court held on the side of Rappa: River the sd WOOD his heires paying the rents from henceforth shall be due to our Sovereigne Lord the King.
