      They were hired as servants by Edward Emms, a neighbor to Thomas Wren, and thus came into contact with settlers in what is now the Falls Church neighborhood. Gerard Trammell (age 57 years "and upwards" on December 10, 1759), and Samuel Jenkins, age 47 years, on the same date, both gave other details. Samuel Jenkins testified that Ralph Holy- field lived with him as a hired hand at one time. It was during this time that he was Godfather at the baptism of William ("now Orsin") Holyfield
