      To all etc. whereas etc. now know you that I Sir Wm.
      [-----] give and grant unto Gervase Dodson Gent. sixteen
      hundred acres of land lying and being in the County of
      Northumberland abutting Easterly upon the Potomacke
      River [-----] upon the mouth of the upper Machetig River
      Westerly by Northerly upon the main of the woods, the said
      land [be-"---] unto the said Gervase Dodson by and for the
      transportation of thirty two persons into the Colony all
      whose names are in the records mentioned under this pattent
      and dated the first ofFebruary 1650.

      Anthony Linton his deed of gift to Thomas and Alice Shaw
      These presents witness that I Anthony Linton of the
      County of Northumberland, Planter for and in [-----] of my
      true love and affection to my dear sister Alice Shaw wife of
      Thomas Shaw now of Yorke [--] do hereby set and to
      afirm both to my said [-----] Thomas and Alice Shaw three
      hundred and fifty acres of land being the uppermost of my
      said deed [-----] Westerly upon [-----] Wicocomocoe River
      [-----] there of and hereby the three hundred and twenty
      poles South into the woods and distinquished by marker as
      appointed as may appear by my pattent to have and to hold
      the said land with all previledges them to apportaining etc.
      so long as they or either of them shall live [-----] provided
      they let it out to neither person or persons nor make use of
      any of the timber but for the good of the plantation And that
      I the said Anthony or my assignees have the benefit of half
      the peach trees now growing and if they come not this year
      this writing be void and of non effect In conformation where
      of! have here unto set my hand this last of August 1653.

      Know all men by these presents that I Geruase
      Dodson of Northumberland County Surveyor do by these
      presents grant and assign unto Col. Wm. Claiborne his heirs
      and assignees forever that my divident and plantation of
      land of one thousand acres lying on the Southside of Great
      Wicocomoco River at the head of Fishing Creek called,
      "Turkey Cock Hill" with all my crops and cattle and estate
      being or which shall be thereon provided, that if I Geruase
      Dodson do [--] pay unto the said Wm. Claiborne or his
      assignees the sum of five thousand five hundred and ten
      pounds of tobacco and cask lately paid by him for me unto
      Mr. Richard Hubbard and others and shall also pay and
      satisfy any other tobacco or debt which I shall receive or
      become debtor .for unto the said Claiborne. Then this
      present deed to be void and of nonefIect otherwise to be in
      full force and vertue. In witness whereof I have hereunto set
      my hand and seal March 6th day 1654.

      Thomas Hopkins his deed of gift unto Thomas Claiborne,
      Know all men by these presents that I Thomas
      Hopkins of Northumberland do by these presents for diverse
      good causes and considerations [---] there unto moving
      and out of the love and affection I bear unto Thomas
      Claiborne the son of Col. Wm. Claiborne Esq. give grant
      and assign unto the said Thomas Claiborne two heifers, one
      of two years old and the other of one year old marked (vizt)
      the right ear slit and the upper part taken away and the left
      ear a nick underneath it, to have and to hold the said two
      heifers with their increase to him the said Thomas Claiborne
      his heirs and extrs or assignees forever. Witness hereunto
      my hand this 15th day of March 1654.

      William Nash his will.
      In the name of God Amen, to all Christain people
      [----] concern know you that I William Nash of Great Wicocomoco in the County of Northumberland being perfect in memory [---] present being visited with sickness by the hand of Almighty God I do here make my last will and testament as followeth
      Imprimus I give my soul to Almighty God and my body to the earth from whence it came.
      First - I give and bequeath unto my eldest son Thomas Nash [---....:] that part or parcel of land that I bought of John Ingram laying [-----] the Dividing Creek also I give him three cows one feather bed [----] furniture to it, one chest, one gun and a spitt, an iron pot and a [--- ] with a
      proportion of pewter.
      Item - I give and bequeath unto [--] second son William Nash the half of seven hundred acres of land which Mr. Gerase Dodson hath rights for to take up and pattent also I give him two cows and one feather bed with furniture to it, one chest, a pot and a gun and a kettle with a proportion of pewter.
      Item - I give unto my youngest son John Nash the other half of my land before specified and two cows, one chest, a pot, a kettle and a gun with a proportion of pewter,
      Lastly - I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Ann Nash all [----] rest of my cattle and goods both moveables and non moveables. further it is my desire that my, plate shall be equally divided amoungst my wife and children one tankard, two wine cups, one dram cup and seven spoons further it is my desire that my loving brother Mr. Thomas
      Hopkins shall administer of my estate in the behalf of my wife and children, further it is my desire that Mr. Thomas Hopkins, Mr. Richard Budd and Theodor Barber to be my Overseers over the estate in the behalf of my children, further my desire is that my children be brought up in the fear of God with learning and education and the legacy that
      I leave them to be given to them when they are seventeen years of age as witness my hand and seal this 8th of November 1655.

      Richard Bennett Esq. etc. give and grant unto Thomas
      Salsbury eleven hundred acres of land situated-laying and
      being in the County of Northumberland and on the
      Southside of Great Wicocomoco River bounding Northerly
      upon the said river and Fishing Creek Easterly upon the
      creek which divides this land from the land of the said
      Salsbury now lives on and the land of Martin Cole Westerly
      upon the land of Geruase Dodson bought of the pattent of
      John Essex Southerly upon the land of John Fawsett and the
      main woods the said land being due unto the said Thomas
      Salsbury (vizt) one hundred and fifty acres part hereof being
      formerly granted by pattent to John Hawkins dated the 26th
      of September 1651 and by Abraham Byram the legate of the
      said Hawkins assigned to Mr. Geruase Dodson and by the
      said Dodson assigned to the said Salsbury and nine hundred
      and fifty acres the residue by and for the transportation of
      nineteen people into this colony whose names are in the
      records mentioned under this pattent to have and to hold etc.

      Thomas Salisbury his assignment of a pattent to Mr.
      Geruase Dodson.
      These presents witness I Thomas Salisbury of
      Wicocomoco, Planter for a valuable consideration received
      before the signing hereof wherewith I acknowledge myself
      to be fully contented and satisfied do hereby sell and assign
      over from me and mine heirs to Geruase Dodson of the said
      place, Surveyor all my right title and interest in the above
      mentioned land and pattent to him the said Dodson his heirs
      or assignees forever in as full and ample manner as it is to
      me granted and I engage myself my heirs and assignees to
      acknowledge the same in court as witness my hand.

      Geruase Dodsons sale ofland to Isaac Foxcroft.
      Know all men by these presents that I Geruase
      Dodson of Wicocomoco in the County of Northumberland,
      Surveyor for a valuable consideration received before the
      signing hereof wherewith I acknowledge myself to be fully
      contented and satisfied do hereby sell alienate and assign
      over from me and mine heirs, extrs, admtrs and assignees to
      Mr. Isaac Foxcroft his heirs, extrs, admtrs or asignees for
      me all my right title and interest to and in a tract of land
      containing two thousand acres situated laying and being in
      the aforesaid county and on the Southside of Great
      Wicocomoco River butting and boundirig Northeasterly
      with the said river and upon a creek comonly called,
      "Fishing Creek" as also upon a parcel of land pattented for
      Mr. Wm. Thomas Southeasterly upon a creek dividing this
      land from the land upon which Mr. Salisbury now lives and
      the land of Martin Cole Southwesterly upon the land of
      John Fawsett, Freeman Conaway and John Howard
      Northwesterly upon the main woods part of which land was
      due to me by purchase from Henry Hust and Mr. Thomas
      Salisbury and other part due to me by purchase from
      Abraham Byram and by me called, "Turkey Cock Hill" to
      have and to hold the said land to him the said Mr. Isaac
      Foxcroft his heirs or assignees forever in as full and ample
      manner as it is granted by pattent and I hereby engage to
      cause the said two thousand acres ofland to be put into one
      pattent to be made in the name of the said Mr. Isaac
      Foxcroft and to deliver the said patient or cause it to be
      delivered to the said Mr. Foxcroft or his assignee with the
      first convenient opertunity after the next Quarter Court.
      Also I hereby assign over all my hogs being upon the said
      land or part adjecent part whereof are marked with a
      swallow tail on both ears bought by me of Henry Wickers
      and the other part being of Mr. Salisburys mark I having
      bought half of all his hogs about two years ago and I also
      engage myself my heirs and assignees to warrent and make
      good the said sale against any person or persons laying
      claim to the said two thousand acres of land by vertue of
      any contract assignment or engagement from me or my
      assignees I hereunto set my hand and seal this 13th of
      February anno 1655.

      TO ALL XPIAN PEOPLE Greeting, Knowe yee yt: whereas my deare Mother, ISABELLA DODSON, Widdow & Relict of my deare Father in Law, GERVASE DODSON, did give & assigne unto mee, THO: SALSBURY, eight rights of Land & by virtue whereof I did agree to bee granted ( ) by the Honble, FRANCIS MORYSON Esqr., his Maties then Governor of this Colony, unto my selfe & JOHN HEWLETT fower hundred acres of land bearing date in August 1661; which sd: land ws by us taken up at the head of GREAT WICOCOMOCO RIVER & Laid out by JNO: HAYNIE, Surveyor, whoe marked the bounds accordingly & Whereas the one moyetie of the sd. Pattent & Land doth really & in bona fide belong unto mee, I doe by these prsents fully & firmly bargain. & assigne unto Capt. DANLL. NEALE of GREAT WICOCOMOCO Two hundred acres part of the sd. Foyer hundred acres of land being the one moyety thereof & alsoe the aforesd. Pattent to mee & the sd. HEWLETT together with all the right that I may claime in the sd: pattent or hereafter, all which I have done for and in considerscon of the valuable quantity of Sixteene hundred ( ) to mee already in hand paid; To have & to hold to the sd. Capt. DANIELL NEALE his heires & assignes for ever from all claimes by mee my heires or assignes or any other p:sons with all priviledges belonging unto the ad: pattent without molestacon ( ) confirms & ratify by setting my hand & fixing my wale this 16th day of December in the Foverteenth yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord Charles the Second of Britain France & Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith &c.
