      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I MARGARIT UPTON of the County of LANCASTER in Virginia Widow for divers good causes & consideracons me thereunto moveing have given granted bargained sold & do by these presents for me my heirs give grant bargain sell and confirm unto HUMPHRY BOOTH of the County of LANCASTER Merchant seven hundred acres of land together with the Pattent thereof situate lying & being in the said County of LANCASTER on the North side of RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER begining on the uper side of a divident of land now in the possession of JOHN EDGECOMBE & runing for breadth by or nigh the River side Et: by North 350 poles to a Creek that divides this land & the land of ANTHONY JACKMAN thence extending into the Wood North by E. 320 poles & by a line parallel to the Rivers Course 350 poles & so South by West to the place where this land first begun to have & to hold the said land unto the said HUMPHRY BOOTH his heis & assigns for ever according to the tennor of the said Pattent & I the said MARGARET do promise to make further assurance of the said Land when thereunto lawfully required and do likewise promise to warrant & defend the said land unto the said HUMPHRY his heirs & assignes against all persons whatsoever in Witness whereof I the said MARGARETT have hereunto put my hand & seal dated this first day of October Anno Domini 1656

      THIS INDENTURE made this 24th day of August in the year of our Lord Sixteen 102- hundred Sixty Between HUMPHRY BOTH of the County of Rappahanock Gent & MARGARETT his Wife on the one part & ROBERT SISEN of the said County Planter on the other part Witnesseth that the said HUMPHRY BOOTH & MARGAREET his Wife for & in consideration of Several] (missing) tobacco & caske for which the said ROBERT SISON hath passed (missing) for payble as by the said Bonds will appear do bargaine & sell unto said ROBERT SISEN his heirs & assignes for Ever a tract of land being on the North side of RAPPA. RIVER in the County of Rappahanock aforesaid being the Surveigh of Mr. JOHN CATLETT as by Survey & draught under the said CATLETTs hand will appear Three hundred & ten acres of land being all that is to be found of a Pattent of Seaven hundred acres conveyed & made over to the said BOOTH by MRS. MARGARETT UPTON Widdow of the aforesaid County of Rappahanock the said three hundred & ten acres being (missing) East side of a Creek comonly called by the name of RICHARDS CREEK & so down the RAPPAHANOCK RIVER joynes upon the land of JOHN EDGCOMB at a Stake sett neer to the HOUSE comonly known by the name of PEACOCKS QUARTER & fron that Stake tuning North by East to the Creeks side to a stake standing in the FORTE FIELD as by the said Draught will more amply appear To have and to hold said three hundred & ten acres of land with all priviledges to him the said SISEN his heirs &c for ever in as full & ample manner as ever HUMPHRY BOTH & MARGARETE his Wife have ever held said land with all houses gardens orchards fencings now built or to be built the said HUMPHREY BOTH & MARGARETT his Wife do further promise that the said ROBERT SISON his heirs & assignes have lawfull title at the sealing of these presents the said SISEN yeilding & paying the rents or any (missing) taxes that shall hereafter be imposed by any lawful! authority But in case the said ROBERT SISEN shall fiale of any of the above menconed (missing) payment that then it shall be lawfull for the said BOOTH his heirs &c to reenter upon the land without any molestation from the said SISEN & the said Bond that ahe shall faile of payment to be forfeitt

      THIS INDENTURE made the 31st day of January in year of our Lord 1688 Between HUMPHREY BOOTH of County of Rappa., Planter, of one part and SAMUEL GRIFFIN of the same County, Ship Wright, of other part Witnesseth that said HUMPHREY BOOTH for diverse causes and valuable considerations and especially for and in consideration of the full sum of Twenty two pounds Sterling money of England and one Boat Twelve foot by the Keele to be compleatly made and finished with Keels and Oares well and truely paid whereof the sd HUMPHREY BOOTH doth hereby acknowledge the Receipt whereof and himself to be fully satisfied and paid before the Sealing and delivery of these presents and thereof doth clearly discharge the said SAMUEL GRIFFING and his heirs by virtue of these presents doth bargain and sell unto SAMUEL GRIFFING and his heirs one ISLAND lying and being on the South side of RAPPA; RIVER in the County of Rappa: situate before the Plantation of Capt. BOOTH deced, containing Eighty acres be the same more or less withal! woods waters profitts and appertinances thereunto belonging unto him the sd SAMLL. GRIFFING his heirs and I HUMPHREY BOOTH for myself my heirs do covinant promise to and with sd SAML. GRIFFING his heirs to save and keep harmless sure and indemnified the sd SAML. BROOKES of sd County, Planter, and CATHARINE his Wife, Daughter also of the sd HUMPHREY BOOTH deced and heir entaile in Posin (blot) to the sd HUMPHREY, the Son of the one part and RICHARD STOKES of the said County, Planter, of the other part Witnesseth that said HUMPHREY BOOTH, ROBERT BROOKES and CATHERINE his Wife for sum of Two thousand one hundred and three pounds of Tobb: to them or one of them in hand at and before sealing and delivering hereof by sd RICHARD STOKES truly paid by these presents have and each and every of them bath bargained sold and confirmed unto RICHARD STOKES his heirs all that parcell of land containing Fifty nine acres and one quarter of an acre scituate and being in Parish of Cittenburne on the South side RAPPA RIVER in County aforesd lying runing and extending in manner following Beginning at a certaine Stake sett in the NEW FENCE Pasture of sd RICHD. STOKES and adjoining to the land of the edge of a Pocoson, thence S. West to a small red Oake saplin neere a Hickory, thence West to the first mentioned Stake and all woods underwoods timbers trees standing or being on the sd parcell of land and all houses edifices and buildings thereupon standing erected or built all ways passages waters profitts and appurtenances whatsoever to the premises belonging and all the right they the sd HUMPHREY, ROBERT and CATHERINE or any of them now have To have and to hold the sd Fifty acres and one quarter of an acre of land and all the premises unto sd RICHARD STOKES his heirs to his own proper use and for none other and said RICHARD STOKES from henceforth forever peaceably and quietly have and enjoy the before menconed premises without the lawful! suit denial or interruption of any persons whatsoever and that they the sd HUMPHREY BOOTH, ROBERT BROOKE and CATHERINE his Wife shall and will within six months next ensuing in due form of Law acknowledge these presents before his Majties Justices of Peace for Rappa County and that they do suffer and execute such further and other lawful! and reasonable acts for the further conveying and assuring of the before bargained premises unto RICHARD STOKES his heirs as he sd RICHARD STOKES or their Councell learned in the law shall reasonably desire In Witness the sd parties to these Indentures have sett their hands and seales

BROOKE my Husband & me, CATHERINE of the one part and RICHARD STOKES of the other part to ratifie and confirm all that my sd Attorney shall do in the premises.
