      Apr 1, 1784 from Electious Thompson and Catherine Thompson of Anne Arundel County, to Mary Mudd, widow of Clement, of CC. Whereas Robert Gates, late of St. Mary's County, did by will dated Feb 5, 1695, give to his daughter, Susanna Gates, part of a tract of land in CC called New Bradford, containing about 200 acres, which sd tract of land was by sd will given in estate tail, and whereas by an Act of Assembly of Maryland entitled an Act Concerning Estates Tail and the Jurisdiction of the County Courts, passed at a session of assembly begun and held at the City of Annapolis on Jun 15, 1773, declaring that any persons seized of any estate tail in possession, reversion, or remainder, shall have full power to grant, sell, and convey any lands, tenements, or hereditaments whereof they shall be so seized, by such manner of conveyance as any person seized of an estate in fee simple may convey any lands, tenements, or hereditaments whereof such persons are seized of an estate in fee simple, and all such conveyances of any persons so seized in tail shall be good and available, to all intents and purposes against all persons whom the granter might or could debar by any mode of common recovery or any ways or means. This deed therefore further witnesses that the sd Electious and Catherine Thompson, for 138 10 shillings to them by sd Mary Mudd paid, sell to sd Mary Mudd, all the afd tract of land called New Bradford, lying in CC, containing and laid out for about 92 acres.
