      I, Daniel [sic] Rawlings, CC, am of sound and perfect memory, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life, do make this, my will.
      To George Adams Sr - part of a tract of land called Strife,
      To my 3 grandchildren, Elenor, Luke, & John, the children of my son, John dceasd - to each of them, 5 shillings sterling.

      Charles County Land Records 1775-1782; Liber V#3; Page 431. Lease, recorded at the request of Edward Anderson. Oct 23, 1747 from Benjamin Tasker of the City of Annapolis, Esq, agent and receiver general for the Lord Proprietary of Maryland, to John Estep of CC, planter, with the consent of Samuel Ogle, Esq, Governor and Chancellor of Maryland, the lease to sd Estep of all that tract of land in his Lordship's Manor of Calverton in CC & now in the tenure of sd Estep, bounded by the main swamp of Indian Cr at the mouth of a branch near the tenement of Elizabeth Morris, containing 170 acres of land as per lease to John Spaling, now delivered up to be cancelled, and dated May 20, 1721. All mines of gold, silver, copper, lead, tin, or iron, are excepted. This lease is for and during the natural lives of Alexander Estep, son of sd Estep & Richard Estep, son of Philemon Estep, & Walter Smith, son of Benjamin Smith, paying yearly 17 shillings sterling and 2 capons. John Estep may not assign the premises without the licence and consent of sd Lord Proprietary, which licence, besides the rent hereby reserved, John Estep will pay 3 £8 [shillings?] sterling for such licence. John Estep, within 5 years, will plant 200 good apple trees at the least and carefully fence them and keep them in good order. Such houses and edifices as John Estep shall build, shall be kept in good repair. At the end of the lease, the premises are to be in good, tenantable repair_ John Estep shall not waste or sell timber growing on sd land, or destroy more than shall be needed for building and improving thereon or for clearing of ground for tillage and other proper uses. If the rent is ever more than 30 days behind, or if John Estep assigns the premises without licence or wastes or sells timber, then this lease shall cease.
