      Elizabeth Burtles' Will.
      I, Elizabeth Burtles of CC, am sick of body but of sound and perfect memory,
      To my sister Sarah Burtles - the use of a Mulatto girl named Mary, until she comes to the age of 21, after which time I leave her and her increase to be free forever. I also leave Sarah Burtles 4 Negroes (viz) Jack, Toby, Clare, & Nell, & if she dies without issue, to such of the family as she shall think proper. I also leave to Sarah Burtles all my stock & household furniture. I also leave her 2 gowns, provided she give Ann Mudd's 2 daughters 6 £.
      To Ann Mudd - 1 cloth cloak, provided she give her 2 daughters 15 shillings.
      To Eleanor Higdon and to Elizabeth Higdon - 20 £each from Sarah Burtles, after they turn 16.
      To my brother Benjamin Burtles - 1 pair of silver shoe buckles.
      I leave my Negro wench Rose to one of the family she shall choose to go to, & her increase to Sarah Burtles. I leave the 3 years' service of Negro Ben between Sarah Burtles and Benjamin Burtles

      I, William Burtles of CC, am in perfect, sound, and disposing mind and memory but weak in body.
      To my son William Burtles - Negro fellows called Charles and Ben.; also 20 cattle, 2 horses and a mare and colt, 28 swine; 4 beds and furniture, S pewter dishes and 16 pewter plates, 1 iron pot, & 1 dutch oven, 4 pewter basins, 6 flagged chairs, 1 large chest & 3 small ones, 1 oval table, 8 delft plates. William is to give my daughter Ann Mudd 1 good gown & 1 good petticoat, and he is to find me all necessaries such as food & raiment, suitable for a person of my age and condition.
      To my daughter Molsey Simms - 1 cow and calf and 1 large pewter dish and 1 small.
      To my son William - the corn and tobacco in the house this day, Apr 13, 1788.
      To my sons Andrew Burtles & Benjamin Burtles, and my daughters Susanna Simms, Eleanor Higdon, Sarah Simpson
      - 5 shillings each.

      From the best information, Adrew [sic] Burtles, the heir at law, is a resident of Montgomery County & therefore was not present when the above probate was taken. Certified by John Muschett, Regr of Wills.
