      p. 388 In Name of God Amen I CADWALLADER DADE of St. Pauls Parish and County of Stafford being in perfect sence .. do make this my last will & Testament.
      Imprimis I give to my loving wife a negro boy known by the name of Dick, and as there may be some Dispute touching the right of the said Negroe, I desire my Estate may not be Involved in defending the same. Item I desire my Estate may be equally divided between my two sons after my wife's Dower is allotted, and whereas my wife is now with child if it should be a Son, then my will is, that it shall have an equal part of my Estate with my other Sons, but if a Daughter my will is, that it shall have six Negroes, not of the choice, nor such as will be of no Service but of the Middle sort, and if should die before marriage then her part to be equally divided between the Survivours, and further my desire is that after my wifes death, her part to be equally divided between my sons. Item I desire my Executors may from the profits arising from my Estate, purchase as much land for my son FRANCIS as there is in the part I hold on Potomack River and where ANTHONY BUCKNER lives as an Overseer, and if the child my wife now goes with should be a Son, then I also desire as much land may be purchased for him, and if the profits arising from my Estate should not be sufficient to purchase the Lands above directed, then 1 impower my Executors to sell as many, of my slaves for the best price as can be had to enable them to purchase the Lands for my younger son or sons. Item I give to my son CADWALLADER two old Negroes above his equal share. Item I desire my Estate may not be appraised nor divided during my wifes widowhood, and if any my children should die during their Mothers life, I desire the Surviving child or children may have the deceas'd part equally without my wifes having any part thereof .. as she is by Law to have a third part thereof during her natural life. I also request my Executors to take care to give mu sons as good Education as my Estate can afford, having regard to make the above purchases directed; I hereby appoint my loving wife during her widowhood, together with my good friends JOHN STITH, RICHD. BERNARD and JOHN WASHINGTON Exx & Exr .. 20th May 1760.

      p. 391 In Name of God I TOWNSHEND DADE of County of Stafford and Parish of saint Pauls being at this time sick but of perfect sense .. First I give to my Daughter ELIZABETH WASHINGTON, Dinah, Virgin & their increase which she has in her possession. Secondly I give to my Grandson LANGHORN DADE one negro man named Juba. Thirdley I give to my son BALDWIN DADE, two Negro men called Solomon & George. Fourthly I give to SARAH DADE Widow of CADWALLADER DADE two Negroes Ben & Suckey. Fifthly I give to my daughter FRANCES STUART the following Negroes (3 named) which she has in her possession. Sixthly I give to my Son HORATIO DADE the following Negroes (5 named) Seventhly I give to my Loving Wife ROSE DADE 12 Ews & ram. Lastly I give to my son Horatio Dade all the rest of my Estate of what kind so ever both real & personal.
