      11 Jun 1678; Indenture from Bennett Marshagay, merchant, to William Thomas, planter; for 5,000# tobacco; a parcel of land formerly belonging to John Geniers by patent 10 Dec 1653; assigned by him to Marshagay; on the north side of the Potomac; bounded by Geniers' Swamp; containing 100 acres; /s/ Bennett Marshaway; wit. Clebome Lomax

      At the request of Major Samuel Hanson, the following patent was recorded on Mar 21, 1747[/8].
      For and in consideration that John Geniers of Maryland, planter, has 100 acres due to him in Maryland for his own transportation, according go our Letter dated at Portsmouth, England Aug 8, 1636, the Maryland Proprietary hereby granted to sd Geniers all that parcel of land on the north side of Potomack River, bounded by Geniers Swamp, the woods, containing and now laid out for about 100 acres. The yearly rent is 2 shillings sterling or 1 bushel of corn. Signed at St Mary's [City] on Dec 10, 1653 - William Stone.
      At the foot of this patent, it was endorsed, I, John Genier, assign my right of this patent to Bennett Marthegau, signed Apr 15, 1658 - John (+ his mark) Genier. Wit - John Sarbo, Wm Tatershell.

      At the request of Major Samuel Hanson, the following deed was recorded on Mar 22, 1747(/8].
      Mar 15, 1747[/8] from Joseph Harrison of CC, planter, to Samuel Hanson of CC, Gent, for 6000 lbs tobacco and for divers other good causes, all that part of a tract of land commonly called Granier, lying in CC on the east side of Potomack River, being part of a tract of land originally granted to John Geiner, "and from assigned by patent to Bennet Marthagay" and from him transferred to William Thomas of CC, deceased, which sd land was sometime since transferred to aforementioned Joseph Harrison by George Salisberry, heir at law {Blank} Wm recorded in CC. Signed - Joseph (J his mark) Harrison. Wit - Wm Hanson, Thos Harrison, Joseph Harrison.
