      In then name of God Amen I John COCKERILLE Gent. Of the County of Northumberland being of sound & perfect Memory blefsed be God & knowing the fraility of mankind & the uncertainty of this tranxitory World doe make this my laft Will & Testament in Manner & form following -
      (Viz) Item I give & bequeath my Soul to Almighty God that Gave it truftign through the Merritts of my Saviour Christ Jefus to obtain pardon and forgiveness for all my sins and my body to ye eath from when it was made to be decently buried according to ye descretion of my exors instrucuft hereafter named & for that worldly estate it hath please almighty God to endow me with all after all my just debts & funirile expenses are fully sattiffied. I difpose as followeth: Item I give and bequeath unto my Dear & loving wife Hannah COCKERILL all that tract of land whereon I now live with all houfes and orchards woods underwood & all other priviledges thereunto belonging with all the Cattle Sheep hogs household stuffe & all debts that are juftly due unto me & all other things w(tm)foever during her naturall life it is my defire & I after her deceafe all the aforeGoods and Chattles to difposed of as followeth & I doe make her my whole & sole exec. Of this my last Will & Testament
      Item it is my desife after my wifes deceafe yt my land be equally divided between my three sons John Cockarille Jun. Edward Cockarill & Richard Cockarill
      Viz Two hundred acres thereof to Jno it being - of yt devident I now live on & begin at the lower end thereof & to extend yt whole breath of my land from Creek to Creek until the aforeff two hundred acres be comployed with all houfe & orchards & all privileges whatfo ever to him ye said John Cockarill Junr, his heirs & afsigns forever. Item it is my will and defire that my son Richard Cockerill have one hundred acres of land it being pt of the above specified tract & to have it laid out at the upper end of my land joining to the land of Jno Motley to the County decd & John Reafon & to extend it Se--- downwards the full breadth of my land until the aforesaid one hundred acred be complied with to have & to hold the said land with all houfes & orchards to him ye said Richard COCKARILL his heirs & afsigns forever.
      Item it is my will and defire that my son Edwd COCKARILL have all the refidue of my land with all appurtenances thereunto belonging to him and his heirs & afsigns forever item it is my will & desire that if any of my three sons dy without lawfule issue by them begotten then ye survivers to have his part equally divided between them & to have & to hold the same to them their heirs and Afsigns forever.
      Item it is alfoe my defire that all my housefhold stuff cattle sheep equally divided betwixt my three sons John Cockerille, Junr Edwd Cockarill and Richard Cockarill if it should pleafe God that any of my Said three Sons depart this life with out lawfull ifsue by them begotten that then their part of ye afore bequeathed estate on all be equally divided betwixt the survivers to them their heirs & Afsigns forever
      & Laftly it is my will & dfire that my wife Hannah Cockarill be whole and Sole exor of this my laft will & Testament this will revoaking all former will made to the Contrary Witnefs my hand & seale the 30 Day of
      December in the year of Lord God One Thousand Six Hundred Niney five.

      KNOW ALL MEN by these p:sents yt: I ED: COLES of LITTLE WICOMACO in ye County of Northumberland in Verginea for a valewable consideracon to me in hand paid, hath granted unto JOHN COCKERILL his heyres & assignes all yt: peece or p:cell of land called YE CODD beinge pt: of ye land ye sd, COLES liveth upon; & boundeth as followeth vizt., Begining at a Spring. called HANS SPRINGE wch: goeth into a Branch yt: runneth into COLES CREEKE & by ye sd: Creeks downe to ye mouth thereof & by LITTLE WICOCOMAKO RIVER downe to ye mouth of a Branch called or knowne by ye name of CODS & so up to ye head thereof to a great m:rked Hickory & then by a line of m:rked trees wch : are now m:rked by ye sd: COLES consent to ye aforesd: Springe where it began; conteyninge by estimacon one hundred acres be it more or less & ye appurtenances belonging lyinge in LITTLE WICOCOMOCO in ye County of Northumberld: aforesd: To have & to hold ye sd: Land wth: all appurtenances belonging unto him ye sd: JNO: COCKRILL his heyres & assignee for ever; he or they paying Quit Rents for ye same, And I ye sd. COLES doth grant that at ye time of ye delivery of these p:sents yt: hee is lawfully seised of ye land & hath lawful! authority to sell ye same; And that ye sd: JOHN COCKRILL shall peaceably & quietly have ye sd: Land without disturbance of him ye sd: EDW: COLES his heyres or assignes; And he shall have liberty of range for Cattle & Hoggs upon ye remainder of ye Devident wch: is in ye possession of him ye sd: COLES from NIPPARS BRANCH downe ye Thickett, provided yt: he, ye sd: COCKRILL, his heyres or assignes doth not keep any head of hoggs upon any ye afore menconed p:misses onely Corne & Tobacco grownd excepted; And also yt: he ye sd: JNO: COCKRELL shall have leave to make use of what Timber he can find upon sd: COLES land from ye aforsd: m:rked Great Hickory to ye Branch called NIPPERS BRANCH & soe downe ye Neck, but in case ye sd: COLES shall alien or otherwayes put away ye p:misses that this clause concerninge Timber to be voyd or none effect; And ye sd: JOHN COCKERELL for him his heyres & assignes doth cowenant wth: ye sd: EDW: COLES his heyres & assignes yt: he shall have liberty of range on & upon ye land aforemen coned to be sold exceptinge only ye Come & tobacco grownd & ye land marked betweene ye Branch runninge by ye Springe wch: is by my dwelling House, & ye breadth joyninge to ye mouth of ye sd ( ) above ye quantity of Hoggs & Cattle specified; For ye true performance of every clause & thin ges herein expressed ye p:tys to these p:sents doe severally oblige them selves their heyres & assignes in ye equall summe of Ten thousand pounds of tobacco & cask; In Witnesse whereof the p:tyes interchangebly to these p:sents have sett their hands & seales this 17th Aprill 1665

      20 9ber 1668 - I Hannah Coctrele the wife of John Coctrele in ye parish of Fairfields in ye county of Northumberland, planter, doe make, ordain, constitute and appoint my loving uncle Lt. Edward Cole to be my true and lawful Attorney to acknowledge & signifie my free consent to this sale of one hundred and seventy-five acres of land sold by my said husband John Coctrele unto John Nelms my consent herein I doe absolutely give and appoint my said uncle Lt.
