To all men .. I, ANN PORTER of Orange County .. good considerations .. moving .. give my granddaughter, ANN FINNELL, daughter of WILLIAM FINNELL .. Negro girl known by name of Nann .. if Ann Finnell should die .. give to Brother, WILLIAM FINNELL, and if he should die, give to my grandson, BENJAMIN FINNELL, son of my Daughter, Jane .. impower my son in law, JOHN GRIGSBY to take into his possession after my death .. til he or she shall be married or arrive at age 21 ..

Indenture 25 Aug 1775 between BENJAMIN FINNELL and SARAH SLEET whereas a Marriage is shortly to be Solemnized Sarah is seized of two female Slaves as her own proper Slaves .. in consideration of intended Marriage do mutually agree .. the aforesaid slaves and future increase remain for joint use of Benjamin and Sarah .. if leave issue by Benjamin if not to return to her other issues ..
