Davis Administrator of Hezekiah Fairfax deceased, and Thompson Fairfax, Plaintiffs, against Margaret Fairfax widow and relic of Hezekiah Fairfax deceased, Robert West and Henrietta his wife, William Ashford and Sally his wife, William Fairfax, Matthew Davis and Molly his wife, Warner Davis and Catherine his wife, Hezekiah Fairfax, Sanford Fairfax, French L. Simpson and Patsey his wife, Susan Fairfax, Minor Fairfax, Hezekiah Reeves and Liddy his wife, Polly Crouch, Bernard Crouch and Hezekiah Crouch, Defendents In CHANCERY The defendants Robert West and Henrietta his wife, French L. Simpson and Patsey his wife, and Bernard Crouch not having entered their appearance and given security according to the act of Assembly and the rules of this Court, and it appearing by satisfactory evidence that they are not inhabitants of this commonwealth - It is ordered, that the said defendants appear here on the first day of the next term and answer the bill of the Plaintiffs; and that a copy of this order be forthwith inserted in some newspaper published in the town of Warrenton, for two month successively and posted at the front door of the Court house of this County. The first William Fairfax, who was married to Lettice ADAMS, was the son of William Fairfax and Elizabeth BUCKNER. The second William Fairfax. was the son of Hezekiah FAIRFAX and his first wife Anne MILLS. His wife was named Eleanor. She is enumerated as a widow with Redmon MILLS in the 1850 census of Prince William Co.,VA. The Prince William Co. Court Minutes refer to the first William as Wm Fairfax, Sr and the 2nd as Wm Fairfax This designation does not appear in the court documents referring to their estates. In this time frame Sr and Jr do not indicate father and son. It only means there were two men with the same name. The following property sales show the two men who both apparently died in 1848. The two sales are in the Prince William County Will Book. Laree' Lee and Darlene Thompson have both made big contributions toward working out this little mystery. Genealogies which include the Fairfax family do not have full listings of Wm. Fairfax Senior's children and virtually nothing is said about the existence of Wm. Fairfax Junior.
