      Will of JOHN BAXTER. I JOHN BAXTER of county of King George .. give unto my beloved wife MARGARET BAXTER one Negro woman and one Negro girl .. to my beloved son THOMAS BAXTER one Negro boy .. to my beloved son JOHN BAXTER one Negro woman .. to my beloved Daughter MARY TIBBS one feather bed and furniture ., to my beloved Daughter ANN BAXTER one Negro girl .. to my beloved Daughter ELIZABETH BAXTER one Negro boy .. my will that my wife should keep all movable estate for space of twenty years to raise my children in a Christian manner at end of which it should be equally divided between my wife and four children THOMAS BAXTER, JOHN BAXTER, ANN BAXTER & ELIZABETH BAXTER as it is appraised .. appoint my beloved wife MARGARET BAXTER, THOMAS BAXTER and FOUSHEE TIBBS Executors this 1st day of November 1753.

      July 23, 1734 - Prince William Co., Va. Deeds. John Baxter, planter, of Prince William Co., sells to Catesby Cocke, Gent., of Prince William Co., for 60 pounds, 300 acres called "Baxter's New Design" in Truro Parish. The land was the upper part of a tract where Baxter was then living and was bounded by a line of some land that Catesby Cocke had purchased from Thomas Simpson.
      Witnesses: James Baxter, Thomas Robinson, Mary Gett. Recorded Sep. 18, 1734.

      May 1735 - Prince William Co., Va. Deeds. John Baxter deeds to Catesby Cocke 550 acres which begins at the top of a white bank by Occoquan.

      Comment: The 550 acres is comprised of the 250 acres that Thomas and Jane Simpson sold Cocke in May 1734 and the 300 acres that John Baxter sold him in July 1734.

      Aug. 1747 - John Baxter of Dettingen Parish, Prince William Co., Va., deeds to Catesby Cocke, for 1169 pounds current money of Virginia, 1016 acres which begins at the high bank of Occoquan Bay.

Co....for sum of 11 lbs., 4 shilling current money of Va...tract in Truro Parish...56 a....part of tract of 350 a....where John Baxter now lives part of tract gr. Simon Thomas and by him sold to Baxter....in line of Catesby Cocke...and where his boat is tied....deed of lease and release.

      John Baxter of Pr. Wm., planter am held and firmly bound unto Catesby Cocke of same in sum of 50 lbs. to the payment whereof well and truly to be made unto sd. Catesby Cocke....May 19, 1739.
      The condition of this obligation is such that if the above bound John Baxter truly observe and keep all covenants, articles and agreements that mentioned in certain indenture between John Baxter and Margaret his wife and Catesby Cocke,according to the true intent of the indenture, then this obigation is void.       THIS INDENTURE made the twenty fifth day of August in the year of our Lord 1740 Between JOHN BAXTER of the Parish of Truro in the County of Prince William Planter & MARGARET his Wife of one part and CATESBY COCKE of the aforesaid Parish & County Gent. of other part, Whereas said JOHN BAXTER by his certain Deed of Release bearing date the twenty second day of March 1737 (did for & in consideration of the sum of sixty pounds Current money to him paid by said CATESBY COCKE) sell & confirm unto said CATESBY COCKE & his heirs three hundred acres of land part of six hundred & fifty acres of land whereon the said JOHN BAXTER now lives which said six hundred & fifty acres of land is part of a Tract containinge two thousand acres of land formerly granted to one SIMON THOMAS & by him sold & conveyed to THOMAS BAXTER & descended from said THOMAS BAXTER after his decease to his Son & Heir THOMAS BAXTER & descended from him after his decease to his Son & heir the aforesaid JOHN BAXTER which three hundred acres of land is bounded as followeth Beginning at the afsd CATESBY COCKE's Corner tree in BUSHROADs line, thence North West to the LITTLE CREEK, thence up the Creek & Branch to a Poplar by the PATH's side thence South East to the upper corner of BUSHROADs land South East to the beginning to contain three hundred acres And all the Estate right which the said JOHN BAXTER had as by the said Deed of Release remaining of Record among the records of Prince William County. And WHEREAS the said JOHN BAXTER by his other Deed of Release bearing date the Nineteenth day of May in the year 1739 did (for & in consideration of the sum of eleven pounds four shillings Currt. money paid by the said CATESBY COCKE) sell unto said CATESBY COCKE & his heirs a tract of land containing fifty six acres part of three hundred and fifty acres of land whereon said JOHN BAXTER now lives & part of two thousand acres formerly granted to one SIMON THOMAS & by him sold & conveyed to THOMAS BAXTER & descended from the said THOMAS BAXTER after his decease to his Son & heir THOMAS BAXTER & from him after his decease to his Son & heir the aforesaid JOHN BAXTER which fifty six acres of land is bounded beginning at a Corner Pine in the line of CATESBY COCKE near the head of a draft of the LITTLE CREEK thence So. E. to a marked white oak by the SWAMP side No. E. to a Hiccory So. five poles to a Stake So. W. to a Chesnut Oak So, W. to a Chesnut Oak So. W. to the top of the high bank near the mouth of the Creek No. W. to a Locust tree on the Creek side in the line of CATESBY COCKE where his BOAT is tyed thence No. E. to the beginning to contain by estimation fifty six acres of land as by said Deed of Release remaining of Record among the Records of Prince William County, And Whereas there is contained in each of the recited Indentures of Release a Covenant from the said JOHN BAXTER that he & every other person claiming in the said premises will at all times upon the reasonable request & at the charges in the Law of said CATESBY COCKE execute or cause further conveyances in the Law whatsoever for assuring the premises before mentioned unto the said CATESBY COCKE Nov This Indenture Witnesseth that said JOHN BAXTER & MARGARET his Wife for sum of five shillings Sterling paid by said CATESBY COCKE have freely & absolutely release and for ever quit claim unto said CATESBY COCKE all the Estate Right to them their heirs to the al oremen toned three hundred acres of land & the aforementioned fifty six acres ol land & premises. In Witness whereof said JOHN BAXTER & MARGARET his Wife have set their hands & seals
