      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we THOMAS JOHNSON and HENRY JOHNSON both of Essex County for the sum of Five thousand five hundred pounds of good sweet seated tobacco & caske reced. of RICHARD WYATT of KING & QUEEN County, have granted by these presents to the sd. RICHARD WYATT his heirs & assignes One hundred acres & bounded as followeth: Beginning at a decayed Poplar in ye DRAGON soe along a line of marked trees to two small read Oakes & a Spanish on the edge of the Highland, thence along a line of marked trees to two Spanish Oakes by a Branch to a forked Gum, from thence to a Maple & Gum in a Branch so to a great Pine & a read Oake & so along a line of marked trees to two read Oakes, thence to ye mouth of two branches from thence up the DRAGON SWAMP to ye place where it first begun, To have and to hold ye ad Land with all houses buildings stables stalls gardings ways belonging and we do hereby warrant & hereafter defend ye sd. Attorney with wch: we do clearly release against all our rights of Dower unto Land sold by our aforesd. Husbands unto the aforesd. RICHD WYATT & his heirs in the County Court of Essex.       TO ALL CHRISTIAN PEOPLE to whome these pr:sents shal come I JOHN BATTAILE of the Parish of ST. MAERIES in the County of Essex send Greeting in or: Lord God everlasting this 12th of April in ye yeare One thousand seaven hundred & One. Now know yee that I the said JOHN BATTAILE for one thousand pounds of sweete seated tobacco in hand paid to me doe give unto HENRY JOHNSON a certaine p:cell of land conteyning three acres and ye fourth part of an acre of land out of a devident of land belonging to me adjoyning to a tract of land which the said JOHNSON now dwells upon begining att a Wallnutt Stump standing on the River Bank and tuning West to a stake in the said JOHNSONs line, thence North East to the River, thence along the said River to the said Wallnutt Stump the place it first began att; To have and to hold the said parcell of land hereby granted unto him the said HENRY JOHNSON his heires & assignes forever And I the said JOHN BATTAILE the sd p:cell of land to him the said HENRY JOHNSON his heires & assignes forever will warrant & forever defend from claimes of any man or persons whatsoever And said HENRY JOHNSON shall forever hereafter lawfully hold the said p:cell of land without any disturbance of me the said JOHN BATTAILE my heires or any other persons whatsoever In Witness whereof I have sett my hand and seale
