      John Edelen died testate in Prince Georges County during 1786. He devised the dwelling-plantation "Piscataway Manor", containing 150 acres to his daughter Jane, but at her decease it was to be divided among his five sons-Thomas, Willliam, John, Christopher, and Benjamin. In addition Jane received numerous negroes and other personalty, but in the event that she married Joseph Blandford, then the personalty would revert to her brother Christopher.
      Negroes were bequeathed to the following grandchildren: Anne Mudd, John and Mary Spalding, and Sarah and Susannah Lindsay. Negroes were also bequeathed to his son John, but if he married either of the daughters of Johh Halley, then the slaves were to revert to the testator's grandson Robert P. Edelen.
      Other slaves were left ot his children-Christopher, Richard, Benjamin, and Elizabeth Mudd. The residuary estate was to be divided among the four daughters.
