Memorandum that his Lordshipp the Lord Propry of this Province sendeth his writt of habere facias possession to the Sheriffe of Calvert County directed which followeth in these words Charles absolute Lord & Propry of the Provinces of Maryland & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c To the Sheriffe of Calvert County
greeting Whereas Richard Ball Lessee of Elizabeth Letchworth Widdow Mother & Guardian of Joseph Letchworth Sonn & heyre of Thomas Letchworth deceased in right of the said Joseph att a Provinciall Court held att our City of St Maryes the Eighteenth day of June instant before our Justices of our said Court hath recovered against Bernard Johnson her possession of & in one Mannor & Messuage & two thousand acres of land lying on the South side of Petuxent River in Calvert County aforesaid called Brooke Court Mannor otherwise the Aquasco with the appurtenfices which he the said Bernard Johnson hath unjustly detained from him Therefore we comand you that to him the said Richard Ball his possession of the said Messuage & prmisses with the appurtenfices without delay you cause to be had & given And in what manner you execute this precept that you make known to our Justices of our said Court to be held att Provincial Court Proceedings, 1678.
St Maryes the Eight day of October next we also comand you that you take the said Bernard Johnson if he shall be found in yor bailywick & him safe keep so that you haue his body before our Justices of our Provinciall Court to be held att our City of St Maryes the Eighth day of October next to satisfie unto The said Richard Ball the sume of two thousand nine hundred & twenty pounds of tobacco for his costs & charges by him laid out & expended about his suite aforesaid And have you there this writt Wittnes our trusty & welbeloved Thomas Notley Esqr our Lievt Genll & chiefe Justice of our said Province the Eighteenth day of June in the third yeare of our Dominion &c Annoq Dni 1678. Att which said Eighth day of October in the yeare aforesaid the same Sheriffe maketh returne of the writt aforesaid in these words Vizt Memorandum this twenty Eighth day of August 1678. Then quiet & lawful possession of all that Messuage or Tenements of Brooke Court Mannor also all the said Mannor of Brooke Court itt being two Thousand
acres delivered unto Widdow Elizabeth Letchworth Mother & Guardian of Joseph Letch worth Sonn & hey re of Thomas Letchworth deceased & all the appurtennces thereunto belonging before good & lawfull men of my bailywick possession as before given As also the sume of two thousand nine hundred & twenty pounds of tobacco satisfied & paid by the wthin named Bernard Johnson according as this writt comands

Ordered by the Court, that a Writt of Enquiry of damages issue to be directed to the Sheriffe of Calvert County to Sumons a jury of the said County to appeare att the next Provinciall Court to Enquire what damages Richard Ball Lessee of Elizabeth Letchworth Widdow Mother & Guardian of Joseph Letchworth Sonn & heyre of Thomas Letchworth deceased hath sustained by occasion of a certaine action of trespas in Ejectmt by him brought against Bernard Johnson Upon mocon made unto this Court by Robert Carvile the Attorney of Elizabeth Letchworth Mother & Guardian of Joseph Letchworth Sonn & heyre of Thomas Letchworth deceased, that by vertue of his Lordpps writt of habere facias possessionem the Sheriffe of Calvert County delivered unto her the said Elizabeth possession of two thousand acres of land called Brooke Court Mannor als the Quasco recovered against Bernard Johnson in this Court, since which tyme the said Bernard Johnson hath by force made a reentry thereinto & keepes possession of part or all of the Messuage or dwelling house on the said lands much to the damage of the said Elizabeth Letchworth Whereupon itt is ordered by the Court here this day to witt the fourteenth day of October in the third yeare of the Dominion of Charles Lord Baltemore &c Annoq Doni 1678. that any two of the Comissionrs of the said County who live neer unto the said land by force compell & turn the said Bernard Johnson from off the said land, & repossesse the said Elizabeth of the said land &. PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY LAND RECORDS, Indenture, 2 November 1697
From: RICH'D EDWARDS of P. G. County, planter, and HANNAH his wife.
To: PETER SCAMPER of P. G. County, planter
Price: 50 pounds sterling
Property: 150 acres out of a 290 acre tract called "Mount Pleasant" and another 50 acre tract called "Good Luck," both on the west side of Patuxent River at Fendalls Fresh. The 290 acre "Mount Pleasant" was originally patented to THOM'S LETCHWORTH, 26 April 1658, and bounded on land formerly taken up by JAMES BERRY, and on FENDALL'S land. It was conveyed by him to JNO. POTTS who bequeathed it to his wife HANNAH. The widow, HANNAH, married the above RICHARD EDWARDS. They conveyed 100 acres of the tract to JOHN TATE, 16 September 1691. The 100 acres bounded on land laid out for the above JOHN POTT called "Mount Pleasant," and on the Patuxent River. The deed was recorded in Calvert Co. They also conveyed 40 acres of the 290 acre tract to JOHN MILLS by deed dated 17 September 1695, and recorded in P. G. Co. The 40 acre tract bounded on FENDALL'S land called "Fendalls Spring," now in the possession of THOMAS WILLSON, on land of JOHN TATE. The 50 acre "Good Luck" was part of a tract called "Cold Spring Manner" and was purchased by RICHARD EDWARDS, 17 September 1695, from FRANCIS COLLYER of Calvert County, now of P. G. County, gent.
