Instrument of Writing, I, Francis Montgomery of CC, owe Samuel Hanson of CC, 6362 lbs of crop tobacco in hhds, and wanting to make him what satisfaction I can for the same, I hereby transfer to him the following: 3 cows marked with 2 swallow forks & under bit in each ear, 2 heifers, 3 yearlings, 11 hogs and shoats all marked with the same mark, 3 mares, 1 colt, 1 young horse, 1 of the mares branded with a hook, the other branded WB, the other mare branded DMD & the younger horse branded; 2 feather beds furniture and 1 old bed, 3 iron pots, 1 frying pan, 2 broad axes, 2 handsaws, adges, and the rest of my joiners carpenters tools, and the increase of the females afd, all of which will be appraised, but no part will he at Hanson's risk until it is appraised and by Hanson taken out of the possession of Montgomery, and will henceforth be the property of Hanson. If the several articles afd should be appraised to more than the debt afd, then Hanson will pay Montgomery, and if the articles are appraised at less than the debt, the balance must be paid by Montgomery.
