To all Christian People .. I ROBERT ALEXANDER of county Stafford for
sum Four thousand pounds Tobo. in hand already paid .. by JOHN BROWN of county Westmoreland .. sold one tract of land containing 200 acres situate in Stafford County and on westermost branches of Jordans Bride Beaver Dam & towards the head thereof it being part of a pattent of 500 acres of land pattented in the name of Robt. Alexander bearing date 23rd March 1664 the other 300 acres lying in Westmoreland County and now in possession and occupation of JOHN BREWERTON & GEORGE DOWNING by virtue of a good & authentick deed of Feoffment from Robert Alexander the said 200 acres of land is bounded beginning at a marked Pohickory & extending south to the main branch of Jordans Bridge and crossing 100 poles to another marked hiccory then East to the said Branch 60 poles and down the North side of the branch same course 260 poles to a white oak thence North 100 poles to another oak finally West to the first mentioned hiccory .. the first day of August 1701.

At a Court held 10th Decr. 1701 .. Mr. Robert Alexander came into Court acknowledged the aforesaid deed of land to Mr. John Brown of Westmoreland County ordered that said deed with acknowledgment be recorded.
Know all men .. I FRANCES ALEXANDER wife of the withun Robert Alexander do by these presents for a valuable consideration reced of Mr. John Brown freely & of my own accord impower NATHL. POPE Attorney to acknowledge my right of dower which I hereafter may have or now have to the within 200 acres of land first day Augt. 1701.

Decr. 10th 1701 A Power from Mrs. Frances Alexander to Mr. N. Pope being proved .. the said Pope by virtue of said Power acknowledged her right of dower to said land. Endorsed on the back of the aforesaid deed. Memorandum that we the Subscribers saw the within Robt. Alexander deliver possession of the within mentioned land to the within mentioned JOHN BROWN by delivering Turf and Twigg parcel & appurtenances of said land to the said John Brown and they both desired us to take notice of the same as witness our hands this 11th day Novr. 1701.
