      THIS INDENTURE made the third day of March in the yeare of the Reign of or: Soveraigne Lord King Charles the second in the years of our Lord God One thousand Six hundred Eighty and three Between RICHARD BOUGHTON of CHARLES COUNTY in the Province of MARYLAND Gentl. of one part and WM. BERRY of the Freshes of Rappa: in the Colony of Virginia, Plantr of the other part. Witnesseth that whereas FRANCIS DOUGHTY SENYR. formerly of Rappa. River in ye said Collony of Virginia, Clerk, deceased, by his Deed of Grant undr: his hand and seale bearing date the Eighteenth day of March in the yeare of or: Lord 1668, did for the consideration therein mentioned grant unto the said RICHARD BOUGHTON of MARYLAND and unto his assignes all that quantity of land contayning Two hundred acres of land lying upon Rappa: River in the said Collony of Virginia and adjoyning the land of Capt. ALEXANDR: FLEMING lately deceased, and butted and bounded according to a Certificate of Survay made thereof by Coll CATLETT upon Record, togeather with all houses buildings & appurtenances whatsoever to the said land belonging and alsoe all Estate right of me the said FRANCIS to the same To have and to hold the said lands & prmisses before mentioned to the said RICHARD BOUGHTON his heires forever to the uses hereafter in these presents limitted & to noe other use, that is to say, to the use and behoofe of the said ANN DOUGHTY, my beloved Wife, and her assignes for and during the time of her natural life for and in the name of her Joynture & in full recompence of her Dower & title of Dower which the said ANN may have to the lands of me the said FRANCIS DOUGHTY and after the decease of the said ANN to the use of the said RICHARD BOUGHTON my heires forever upon the hope trust & on Confidence in him reposed by me the said FRANCIS that he the said RICHARD BOUGHTON his heires at all times after the ending of the Estate of the said ANN my Wife in and to the said land and prmisses shall make and grant such convayances of the same and shall distribute and imploy the rents issues and pfitts. thereof or else such quantity of Tob: as shall be produced on the sale thereof if the said RICHARD shall judg fitt to expose the same to sale, either to me the said FRANCIS DUGHTY my selfe or to such psons. and in such forme as the said FRANCIS shall require, and demand or as by my last Will and Testamt. in Writing to subscribe by mine own hand and seale with my own seale in prsence of three or more witnesses or by any other writing by me to be subscribed & sealed in the prsence of soe many witnesses as aforesd shall nominate and appointe and for default of such nomination then the said RICHARD BOUGHTON his heires shall convay and assure the said land to & on the right of me the said FRANCIS forever as in and by the said Deed of grant duly recorded and enrolled among the records of Rappa. County by ROBERT PAYNE formerly Clerk of said County of Rappa. Reference and relation being had more fully may appeare, And further whereas the said FRANCIS DOUGHTY SENYR. did in his life time by his certain writing bearing date the day of (blank) and subscribed and sealed in the prsence of PETER RAYNER, ROBERT PAYNE aforesaid and ELIZABETH PAYNE his Wife, for consideration therein expressed give and sett over unto his Son, ENOCH DOUGHTY, by the name of ENOCH DOUGHTY my beloved Sonn, the Reversion of the land above mentioned appointing by the said Writing that after the decease of the said Wife, ANN DOUGHTY, now deceased, the said RICHARD BOUGHTON his heires should by good assurances in Law convay the said land and prmisses to his said Son, ENOCH DOUGHTY, his heires or pay or deliver the full value or price thereof in case the said RICHARD should sell the same to his Son, ENOCH, his heires by them to be possess for ever.
      NOW THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH that the said RICHARD BOUGHTON for and in consideration of the sum of Fower thousand five hundred pounds of good sound merchantable Tob: and cask to him paid by WILLIAM BERRY hath sold to the said WM. BERRY his heires all the said Two hundred acres of land above mentioned togeather with the Edifices and buildings to the same appertaining and now in the tenture of the said WILL: BERRY his assignes To have and to hold the said land to the said WM. BERRY his heires forever and the said RICHARD BOUGHTON doth grant that he the said RICHARD BOUGHTON notwithstanding any act or thing or p:curement done now and at the delivery hereof standeth & is solely onely and rightfully seized of the Estates hereby to be granted and that RICHARD BOUGHTON hath full power to grant the said prmisses thereof unto the said WM. BERRY according to the true meaning hereof the rents and services from henceforth to grow due to the Cheiffe Lord of the Fees excepted and foreprized In Witness whereof the parties have sett their hands and seales

      KNOW ALL MEN by these prsents that I the above named RICHARD BOUGHTON hath appointed ADAM WOFFENDALL of Rappa: County in Virginia. Planter, my true and lawfull Attorney for me to acknowledge the right of the above mentioned land and prmisses to be the right of the above mentioned WM. BERRY according to the true porport above Indenture, and the same acknowledgemt. to make in such manner as by the Laws of Virginia for vesting and settleing rights of land is required granting to my said Attorney in my name quiet & peaceable Livery of seizes & possession of the said land or any part thereof in the name of the whole and to grant unto the said WILLIAM BERRY or his lawfull Attorney in that behalfe authorised. In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale this five and twenty day of March 1684
