      From Zachiah new Bridges up the Clay Bridge Road to the Cool Spring Road, and from that place down the Cool spring Road to the Borders of the County, from Zachiah New Bridges up Benedict Road 'til it intersects the Cool spring Road, the Road that strikes out of the Cool spring Road by Richard Standforth's to the Widow Gates', Thomas Hagan, Overseer.

Sep 21, 1737 from John Gates Sr of CC, planter, to Philip Key of St. Mary's County, Gent:, for 2612 of tobacco, all that plantation and tract of land whereon the said John Gates now lives, containing 176.5 acres, being part of a tract of land called (in the patent of confirmation on a warrant of resurvey) the Loving Brothers, lying in CC and on Sep 10, 1716 granted to the said John Gates and Robert Yates [sic], his brother, deceased, and being all that half part of the said land belonging to the said John Gates except that part he has sold to John Parnham of CC, merchant. If, however, John Gates pays Philip Key 2612 of tobacco with lawful interest by Sep 30, 1740, then this deed becomes void. Signed - John Gates. Wit - Thos Chase, John Gardiner.
      I, said John Gates, hereby declare that the within land & premises shall be liable and stand as a security to the within named Philip Key for any tobacco or money I may hereafter become indebted to him, and shall not be subject to be redeemed by me until the same as well as the within mentioned sum and interest shall be paid to said Philip.       Recorded Mar 18, 1740 [/1] . Mar 11, 1740 [/1] from John Gates of CC, planter, to Philip Key of St Mary's County, Gent. Said John Gates, by deed dated Sep 21, 1737, for 2612 lbs tobacco, sold to sd Philip Key all that plantation and tract of land whereon the sd John Gates then did and now does live, containing about 176.5 acres, being part of a tract of land called (in the patent of confirmation on warrant of resurvey) the Loving Brothers, lying in CC and on Sep 10, 1716, granted to the sd John Gates and Robt Gates, his brother, deceased, and being all that half part of the sd land belonging to the sd John Gates except that part he sold to John Parnham of CC, merchant; if, however, sd John Gates paid sd Key the 2512 lbs tobacco with lawful interest, by Sep 30, 1740, sd deed to be void. Said Key has now agreed with sd John Gates for the absolute purchase of sd plantation and tract of land. Whereas Philip Key, on Nov 10, 1742, for 6000 lbs of tobacco & 40 shillings by him paid, bought from John Gates of Prince Georges County, carpenter, via CC deed, 43 acres in CC, being part of a tract of land called the Loving Brothers, which land sd Philip has ever since had the peaceable possession of, and whereas also sd Philip has this day purchased from Peter Gates his right to 43 acres, part of that tract called the Loving Brothers & adjoining to that which sd Philip formerly bought from afd John Gates, as by sd Peter's deed dated today, now this deed, made Nov 15, 1758 between Robert Gates of CC, planter, eldest brother of sd John & Peter Gates & also eldest son & heir at law of Robert Gates, father of the sd Robert, John, and Peter Gatos, of the one part, and the afd Philip Key of the other part, witnesses that sd Robert Gates, for 9 sterling, sells to sd Philip Key, all the right of sd Robert to the "two several forty three" acres of land so as afd sold by his sd brothers, John & Peter Gates, to him, sd Philip Key.
