IN THE NAME OF GOD, Amen this twentieth day of August in the year of our Lord 1739. I ROBERT MIDDLETON of Cople Parish in the County of Westmorland being sick and weak but of perfect minde and memory thanks be given unto God therefore, calling unto mind the mortallity of may body and knowing that is is appointed for all men once to die do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, princably and first of all I give my Sole to God who gave it me hoping by the merits of my blessed Saviour to receive it again at the generai resurrection and my body to be buried at ye decretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned and as for what worldly Estate it hath pleased God to bestow on me I give and bequeath as followeth:
Imprimis. I give and bequeath all my lands to be equally divided between my two Sisters, MARY and ALCE MIDDLETON and my Cousin, THOMAS MIDDLETON, each and every of them to have an equal part to them and their heirs lawfully begotten or to be begotten of their bodies and fbr want of such heirs of either or each of my Sisters, to returne to my Cousin, THOMAS MIDDLETON, and his heirs, and my will is that my two Sisters, MARY and ALCE, have their first choice. I desire my two Sisters, MARY and ALCE, may have my two Negroes, Sam and Sarah, during their natural lifes and after their decease, I give and bequeath the aforesaid two Negroes, Sam and Sarah, together with all their increase to my aforesaid Cousin, THOMAS MIDDLETON to him and his heirs forever;
Item. I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid Cousin, THOMAS, my feather bed together with the bedstead and all the furniture thereunto belonging;
Item. And as for all other Estate in any wise to me belonging, I give and bequeath unto my two Sisters aforesaid, MARY and ALICE MIDDLETON to them and their heirs to be equally divided between them. I also constitute and appoint my Brother, BENJAMIN MIDDLETON my whole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament I revoking and disanulling all other and former Wills and acknowledging this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament have hereunto set my hand and seal affixed the day and yeare above written

Westmorland Set. At a Court continued and held for the said County the 30th day of July Arno Dom: 1754 This Last Will and Testament of ROBERT MIDDLETON, deceased, was presented into Court by BENJAMIN MIDDLETON, his Executor within named, who made Oath thereto as the Law directs and being duly proved by the Oaths of FRANCES MIDDLETON and JOHN MIDDLETON, two of the witnesses thereto subscribed, and on the mocon of the said BENJAMIN and his performing what the Law in such cases requires, Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form

Mary Middleton's Will
In the name of God Amen, I Mary Middlton of the parish of Cople and county of Westmoreland being in disposing sence and memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form.
Imprimis, I give and bequeath my right and title of the land I now live on and my part of Negro man Sam, as also all my movable estate except one feather bed and furniture to be equally divided between William Middleton and Thomas Middleton the two sons of Thomas Middleton, deceased.
Item I give and bequeath the bed above excepted with all the furniture belonging to Mary Brown the daughter of my brother Benjamin Middleton, provided she is alive at the time of my death. If not, then to the above William Middleton and Thomas Middleton.
Further my will is that Leazure Middleton, the widow of Thomas Middleton, deceased, shall have the use of all my estate (except the bed given to Mary Brown) during her widowhood to raise and maintain the above William Middleton and Thomas Middleton upon that they may have no necessity of being bound out for want of sustenance and I do ordain the said Leazure Middlton my whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament.
I also appoint Thomas Brown as a trustee impowering him in case the said Leasure Middleton should marry or make wilfull waste of the above said estate, more than is necessary for the raising and supporting the said William Middleton and Thomas Middleton, to take it out of her hand into his own. At a court held for Westmoreland county the 27th day of September 1763, this last will and testament of Mary Middleton, deceased was proved according to law by the oaths of George Knott and Elizabeth Walker, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded; and on the motion of Leasure Middleton the executrix named in the will who made oath according to law and together with William Taylor her security entered into and acknowledged bond with condition as the law directs, certificate is granted her for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.

Middleton to Middleton
This indenture made the 10th day of August 1771, between Alice Middleton and Leazure Middleton of the Parish of Washington and County of Westmoreland of the one part and Thomas Middleton of the same parish and county of the other part. Witnesseth that Alice Middleton and Leazure Middleton in consideration of 5 shillings as also for the natural love and affection and for other good causes and considerations have sold and released to the said Thomas Middleton a tenement and plantation with the full quantity of 25 acres of land adjoining whereon the said Thomas Middleton now lives, scituate and being in the said Parish of Cople and County of Westmoreland being part of a tract of 150 acres which was formerly purchased by Matthew Harrison late of the County of Richmond, deceased of Alice Middleton first party to these presents and by the last will and testament of the said Matthew Harrison dated the 13th day of October 1764 demised to the said Alice Middleton and Leazure Middleton as tenants for life and after their death to be and remain to William Middleton and Thomas Middleton sons of the said Leazure Middleton in the fee simple. In witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day month and year above written.

Alice Middleton's Will
In the name of God, Amen, the 27th day of October 1766 by Alice Middleton of the County of Westmoreland and parish of Cople and colony of Virginia being sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory do make constitute ordain and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
Item I give and bequeath and to Thomas Middleton, son of Thomas Middleton, deceased one feather bed and furniture, and one bell metal skillet.
Item I give and bequeath all my other estate movable and immovable to be equally divided between William Middleton and Thomas Middleton, sons of the aforesaid Thomas Middleton, deceased.
Item I nominate, ordain and appoint Samuel Walker in the above-mentioned William Middleton whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

At a court held for Westmoreland County the 28th day of April 1772 this will was proved according to law by the oath of Smith King a witness thereto and ordered to be recorded and on motion of Samuel Walker and William Middleton the executors therein named who made oath thereto according to law and together with the said Smith King their security entered into and acknowledged bond with condition as the law directs, certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.

Middleton & Wife to Oldham Indenture
This indenture made this first day of January 1795 Thomas Middleton the County of Westmoreland Parish of Cople and Judith Middleton wife of and Nathaniel Oldham the other part. Witnesseth that Thomas Middleton and Judith Middleton his wife in consideration of 10 pounds current money of Virginia in hand have sold to Nathaniel Oldham all their rights to a tract of land lying in the County of Westmoreland and Parish of Cople being part of a tract of land belonging to the said Thomas Middleton and Judith Middleton his wife containing 12 acres and bounded as followeth; beginning at a cedar sampling that divides this land from the land which the said Nathaniel Oldham now possesses, then down a ditch to the head of a branch, then down the meanders of the said branch to a gum standing nearly in the middle of a branch that runs into the aforesaid branch, then up the branch, North to Fleet Cox line, then West, up the said line to the land that the said Nathaniel Oldham now possess, thence South a straight course to the beginning. In witness whereof the said Thomas Middleton and Judith Middleton his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written.

Middleton & Wife to Middleton Indenture
This indenture made the 29th day of July 1795 between Thomas Middleton and Judah Middleton his wife of Westmoreland County and Cople Parish of the one part and John Middleton of the county and parish aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that Thomas Middleton and Judah Middleton his wife in consideration of 10 pounds current money of Virginia in hand has sold to John Middleton all that parcel of land containing by estimation 25 acres lying and adjoining to the lands of John Middleton, deceased; beginning at a red oak, from thence a straight course down to the swamp to a gum tree, from thence up the nearest branch to a willow tree, from thence a straight course a cross the hill to the lands of Nathaniel Oldham, to a cedar tree, from thence a straight line to another cedar tree, from thence along the line to a sycamore tree, from thence along the line to another sycamore tree in a bottom, from thence to the beginning red Oak. In witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written.
