      In the name of God Amen. I JOHN MEDLEY of Bromfield Parish in County of Culpeper & Colony of Virginia Planter being very sick and weak of body but in sound and perfect sence of mind & memory and touching the worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me Do give and dispose of the same in the following manner.
      Imprimis I lend to my well beloved Wife EUGA [Elizabeth] all and singular my estate both real & personal dureing her widowhood & no longer but and if my well beloved wife shall marry, then my will is that at such time or imediately after her death, then all my personal estate be apralsed and equally deviled among my children hearafter named (Viz) my Daughter ELIZABETH, my son JOHN and my daughters ELINOR, MARY and MARTHA, when they marry or arrive at lawful age.
      I give and bequeath to my son John all my land and Plantation and the improvements thereon made to him and his heirs forever and to have full possession of I mediately after his mothers marriage or death but not before But if my son John shou'd die before he marries or without issue then my will is that the land bequeathed to him be sold and the money equally divided among his Sisters or their proper respresentatives.
      My will is that if any of my children die before marriage that then the part will'd or bequeathed to that child or children so dieing shall be equally divided amongst the other children then living Lastly appoint and nominate my well belov'd friend Mr. JACOB WARD, Mr. CHARLES BROOKING, my well beloved wife, Eliza., and my son John Executors of this my last Will ..
      in Witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty two.

      At a Court held for County of Culpeper on Thursday the 20th day of October 1763
      This last Will and Testament of JOHN MEDLEY Deceased was exhibited to the Court by Jacob Ward and Elizabeth Medley Widow of the said decedent two of the Executors therein named and was proved by the Oaths of Zachary Gibbs and John Cave two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said Executors Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form they having sworn to the same and given Bond and security according to Law.

      In the Name of God Amen. I ROBERT MEDLEY of the County of Culpeper being sick and weak but in perfect sense and memory, I make this my last Will and Testament .. Imprimis I give my Soul to God that gave it me and my body to the Earth to be buried .. and my worldly Estate I give as followeth.
      Item I give to my beloved Cousin AMBROSE MEDLEY Son to JACOB MEDLEY my Manner Plantation with two hundred acres of land . and in case the said Ambrose Medley should die without issue that then the said land and Plantation shall fall to REUBEN MEDLEY son to the said Jacob Medley .. and in case the said Reuben Medley should die without issue that then the said land and Plantation shall fall to my Beloved Brother Jacob Medley.
      Item I give to my Brother in Law REUBEN SHELTON two hundred acres of land adjoyning to my Plantation during his life and after his decease to fall to his Eldest son THOMAS SHELTON ..
      Item I give to my Honoured Mother ELLINOR MEDLEY five pounds cash if she be living and if she be dead that then the said five pounds to fall to THOMAS HUNDLEY for the educating of his Children.
      Item I give to my beloved Brother JAMES MEDLEY my riding mare.
      Item I give to my beloved Brother ISAAC MEDLEY Fifteen pounds cash.
      Item I give to my Brother in Law MAY BURTON Fifteen pounds cash and after his decease to fall to his Son MAY BURTON JUNR. ..
      Item I give to my beloved Brother JOHN MEDLEY Ten pounds cash and in case my said Brother John Medley should die that then the said Ten pounds shall fall to his son JOHN MEDLEY JUNR...
      Item I give to my Cousin SUSANNA MEDLEY Fifteen pounds cash but in case the said Susannah Medley should die without issue that then the said Fifteen pounds to fall to her Sister ELIZABETH MEDLEY, and if the said Elizabeth Medley should die without issue then the said Fifteen pounds to fall to her Sister ELLINOR MEDLEY ..
      Item I give to my Brother Jacob Medley Ten pounds Cash .. And all the remainder of my Estate to be sold and equally divided among all my friends above mentioned. Lastly I appoint my beloved Brothers John Medley and Jacob Medley Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof .. this Ninth day of August 1759.

      This last Will and Testament of Robert Medley deceased was exhibited to the Court by John Medley & Jacob Medley the Executors therein named & was proved by the oaths of .. witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded which being sworn to by the sd Exors. on their motion Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probat thereof giving Bond and Security according to Law.

      KNOW ALL MEN that We JOHN STAP and ELIZABETH STAP his Wife of ORANGE County for divers good causes but more especially for sum of Eight pounds Ten shillings paid by MOREMAN BALLARD have sold unto said Ballard all the money that shall become due hereafter unto us ariseing from the sale of the lands and plantation whereon Mrs. ELIZABETH MEDLEY now lives the same to be sold agreeable to the Last Will & Testament of Mr. JOHN MEDLEY deceased this 16th March 1772.
