      In the Name of God Amen. I ROBERT MEDLEY of the County of Culpeper being sick and weak but in perfect sense and memory, I make this my last Will and Testament .. Imprimis I give my Soul to God that gave it me and my body to the Earth to be buried .. and my worldly Estate I give as followeth.
      Item I give to my beloved Cousin AMBROSE MEDLEY Son to JACOB MEDLEY my Manner Plantation with two hundred acres of land . and in case the said Ambrose Medley should die without issue that then the said land and Plantation shall fall to REUBEN MEDLEY son to the said Jacob Medley .. and in case the said Reuben Medley should die without issue that then the said land and Plantation shall fall to my Beloved Brother Jacob Medley.
      Item I give to my Brother in Law REUBEN SHELTON two hundred acres of land adjoyning to my Plantation during his life and after his decease to fall to his Eldest son THOMAS SHELTON ..
      Item I give to my Honoured Mother ELLINOR MEDLEY five pounds cash if she be living and if she be dead that then the said five pounds to fall to THOMAS HUNDLEY for the educating of his Children.
      Item I give to my beloved Brother JAMES MEDLEY my riding mare.
      Item I give to my beloved Brother ISAAC MEDLEY Fifteen pounds cash.
      Item I give to my Brother in Law MAY BURTON Fifteen pounds cash and after his decease to fall to his Son MAY BURTON JUNR. ..
      Item I give to my beloved Brother JOHN MEDLEY Ten pounds cash and in case my said Brother John Medley should die that then the said Ten pounds shall fall to his son JOHN MEDLEY JUNR...
      Item I give to my Cousin SUSANNA MEDLEY Fifteen pounds cash but in case the said Susannah Medley should die without issue that then the said Fifteen pounds to fall to her Sister ELIZABETH MEDLEY, and if the said Elizabeth Medley should die without issue then the said Fifteen pounds to fall to her Sister ELLINOR MEDLEY ..
      Item I give to my Brother Jacob Medley Ten pounds Cash .. And all the remainder of my Estate to be sold and equally divided among all my friends above mentioned. Lastly I appoint my beloved Brothers John Medley and Jacob Medley Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof .. this Ninth day of August 1759.

      This last Will and Testament of Robert Medley deceased was exhibited to the Court by John Medley & Jacob Medley the Executors therein named & was proved by the oaths of .. witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded which being sworn to by the sd Exors. on their motion Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probat thereof giving Bond and Security according to Law.

      WILL OF NICHOLAS SMITH OF ESSEX COUNTY, VA.
      In the name of God amen I Nicholas Smith of Southfarnham parish in the County of Essex, Gent., being in perfect health of a sound and disposing mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testament. First I commend my soul to Almight God, Trusting the merits and sufferings of my Blessed Saviour Jesus Christ for the Remission of my sins and my Body to be buryed in such Decent Manner as my Exor. herein after named shall think fit and as to the disposal of my worldly Estate which it has pleased God to bestow upon me all my Debts being first paid I give devise and bequeath the same as in manner following:
      Item: I give to my son Francis Smith, my son Nicholas Smith, my son Samuel Smith, my daughter Susannah Medley, Each one shilling sterling, they having received Each a sufficient part of my Estate.
      I give to my daughter Ruth Saile One Feather Bed and Furniture, two Cows and Calves and two Sows to her heirs forever.
      Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucy Dunn one negro Girl named Betty Booker and one negro Boy named Tom Booker, and two Ewes to her heirs forever.
      Item—I give to my grandson John Medley two Cows and Calves and two Ewes to him and his heirs forever. All the Rest and Residue of my estate of what nature or kind so ever the same be both Real and Personal I lend unto my loving Wife Anne Smith, during her Life and after Decease I give the same to be equally divided between my Daughter Lucy Dunn and my two granddaughters Ann Fisher and Anne Medley and their heirs forever and lastly I appoint my son-in-law James Medley my sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereon I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 16th day of September 1755.

      THIS INDENTURE made the Twelfth and Thirteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred twenty and nine Between LEONARD HILL of the Parish of Southfarnham in the County of Essex Gent. of one part and ELEANER MEDLEY of the Parish & County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that Whereas said LEONARD HILL by Indenture dated the day before the date hereof did grant unto the said ELEANER MEDLEY her heirs and assignes a certain parsell of land containing fifty acres bounded Beginning at a Corner tree of the land which was formerly BRIDGERs now belonging to the said LEONARD HILL standing on the upper side of a branch which makes into the YORKER SWAMP runing from thence South South West along a line deviding the said LEONARD HILLs land & the land which did formerly belong to JOHN SHARP now belonging to the Orphans of THOMAS HARWAR deced to the YORKER SWAMP thence down the said Swamp to a Branch that makes into the YORKER SWAMP thence up the said Branch to the begining tree standing near the plantation belonging to the said ELEANOR MEDLEY and also all Tenements houses advantages whatsoever to the same belonging To Have and To Hold unto the said ELEANER MEDLEY dureing the term of Six months from thence to the end that by Virtue thereof and of the Statute for Transferring uses into possession the said ELEANER MEDLEY might be in the actual possession & be enabled to make and accept of a grant and release of the Same Now This Indenture Wittnesseth that the said LEONARD HILL for the sum of three thousand five hundred pounds of good tobacco and cask clear by her the said ELEANER MEDLEY to him in hand paid whereof the said LEONARD HILL doth hereby grant unto the said ELEANER MEDLEY her heires and assignes all the aforesaid Tract and parsell of land and all the Estate whatsoever of him the said LEONARD HILL To Have and To Hold the said parsell of land with the appurtenances to the same belonging to the said ELEANER MEDLEY her heirs and assignes forever.       KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we ELEANOR MEDLEY, ABRAHAM MOUNTAGUE & HENRY YOUNG are held & firmly bound unto WM. DAINGERFIELD, SALVATOR MUSCOE, THOS. WARING, JAMES GARNETT, WM. BROOKE & THOMS STHRESHLY JUNR gent Justices of County of Essex in the sum of five hundred pounds currt. money this 17th day of Aprill 1733.
      The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bound Eleanor Medley Administratrix of all the goods chattles and credits of JOHN EVANS Shoemaker deceased do make or cause to be made a true & perfect inventory of all the goods chattles & credits of the sd decd the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited in the County Court of Essex at such time as she shall be thereunto required by the sd Court & further do make a just & true account of her actings & doings therein when thereto required by the sd Court and provided that if it shall hereafter appear that any last Will and Testament was made by the sd decd & the Execr. or Execx. named do exhibit the same in the sd Court making request to have it allowed & approved Accordingly if the said Eleanor being thereunto required do deliver up her letters of Admon. approbation of such Testament being first had & made in the sd Court Then this obligation to be void . .

      TO ALL PEOPLE I ELEANOR MEDLEY of Southfarnham Parish in Essex County in consideration of the naturall Effection wch I bear unto my well beloved Son JAMES MEDLEY of ye same Parish as also for divers other good causes have granted unto the sd James Medley a certain tract of land containing Fifty acres joyning to the Plantation where I now live and bounded between the Yorke Branch and the land which was formerly JOHN SHARPs now belonging to CAPT. WM. BEALE to him & his heirs forever to the use aforesd against all people do warrant and for ever defend and further know ye that I do desire that the sd James Medley may have after my decease quiet possession of all the aforesd premises. In Witness I have set my hand & seal this 15th day of July 1734.
