PARKER, MUNGO ROY & JOSHUA FRY Gent Justices of the peace for the County of Essex in the sum of one hundred pounds current money Sealed with our seal and dated this 18th day of December MDCCXXXIX
      THE CONDITION of this obligation is such that if the above bound WILLIAM GRAY Admr. of all ye goods chattles and Credits of WILLM. ALLEN deced do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all the goods chattles & credits of the sd deced and so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited in the County Court of Essex at such time as he shall be thereunto required by the said Court and Further do make a just and true account of his actings and doings therein when thereto required by the sd Court and also if it shall herafter appear that any last Will and Testament was made by the sd deced and the Exr. or Exrs. therein named do exhibit the same in the sd Court making request to have it allowed & approved Accordingly if the said WILLIAM being thereunto required do deliver up his Ltrs. of Admon. approbation of such Testament being first had & made in the sd Court Then this obligation to be void and of none effect . .

      The will of Erasmus Allen was dated 26 January 1719. In the name of God Amen I Erasmus Allen being Sick and week in body but of perfect mind & memory blessed to be God for it I do ordain this my Last Will & Testament in manner & form following first rendering my Soul unto almighty God my maker stedfastly hopeing & believeing that through the Merrits of Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ I shall receive full pardon and Remission of of [sic] all my Sins and body to the Earth from whence it was taken to be buryed in such decent maner, First I Give to bequeath unto my Son John Allen that peice of Land joyning to my Brother Wm Allen to him & his heirs for ever And the rest of my Land I Give to my Son Erasmus Allen & his heirs for ever only my wife shall have it dureing her life, Secondly I Lend to my Loveing wife Dinah Allen my Three negroes & all the rest of my Estate during her Life and she shall pay all the Debts that is now due without any of my Children Estate or dismissing any of it, Thirdly I Give unto my Son John Allen my negro man named Guile & to his heirs for ever, Fourthly I Give unto my Son Erasmus Allen my negro Girl named Mill and to his heirs for Ever and if the negro Girl should have Children shall be distributed as followeth ye first to go to my Daughter Rachel Cheny The next to my Son Benjamin & ye next to my Son Joseph and the next to my Daughter Margreat & the next to my Daughter Dinah & the next to my daughter Barbary and the abovesd negro man & Girl Shall be due to my Two Sons John & Erasmus Allen after my wife decease and that the abovesd Negro’s Shall not be apaised [sic] with the rest of my Estate and my negro Woman Doll shall be Valued with the rest of my Estate and after my wifes decease to be equally divided between the rest of my Children Rachell Cheny & Margret Dinah Barbary & Benjamin & Joseph & if my wife Should marry my Children Shall be at Eage at Eighteen, I do make my wife & my Son John Allen Holy & Souly Executors makeing this my Last Will & Testamt.       IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I WILLIAM ALLEN JUNR. of the County of Essex and Parrish of Southfarnham being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory praise be rendered and given to Almighty God but calling to mind the frailty and uncertainty of this mortal Life and that all man kind must yield to death when it shall please God to call I do make and ordain this my present Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping through the merits Death and passion and intercession of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and remission of all my sins and wickedness in general and to Inherit Everlasting Life and Salvation through the same Saviour Jesus Christ and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently and Christianly buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named; so my soul thus first chiefly I have commended into the hands of God who gave it and my body I have committed to dust in hopes at the Great Day of the General Resurrection it shall rise again to the Life Immortal through Jesus Christ my Lord and also as touching the disposition of such Temporal goods &estate that it hath pleased almighty God to bestow upon me I do give and dispose thereof as followeth viz: first I will that my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and discharged.

      ITEM I lend to my Reverd, and beloved Father and Mother the land that I bought of WM. HUTSON dureing their natural lives and after their decease I give the said land unto my younger and beloved Brother ZACHARIAH ALLEN to him and his heirs forever and if he should dye without heirs then the said land to return unto my next younger Brother ANDREW ALLEN to him and his heirs Forever, and if he should die without heirs then the sd land to return unto the next Reviveing Heir at law of my nearest relations and all the rest and residue of my personal Estate goods chattles whatsoever I do give and bequeath unto my Reverd, and beloved Father and Mother to them and their heirs forever and I do make my Reverd. Father my Executor fully and solely of this my present Last Will and Testament and my will and desire is that my Estate not be brought to appraisment and I do hereby revoke disannul and make void all former wills and Testaments by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I the sd WILLM.       THIS INDENTURE made the Thirteenth day of October in the year one thousand seven hundred and thirty nine Between THOMAS MEADOR and ELIZABETH his Wife of the County of Essex and Southfarnham Parrish of one part and WILLIAM ALLEN of the County and Parish aforesaid of other part Witnesseth that said THOMAS MEADOR and ELIZABETH his Wife for sum of Two thousand three hundred and twenty five pounds of good Merchantable Tobacco hath sold unto him the said WILLIAM ALLEN his heirs and assigns forever all the right and Estate whatsoever which is or shall hereafter become due to them to a certain Devident or parcel of land being in the aforesaid County of Essex & Parrish of Southfarnham containing fifty two acres and half being part of a Devident of Land of one hundred and five acres formerly purchased by JOHN MEADOR of Mr, EDWIN THACKER as by his Deed dated August 7th 1689 it Both appear also purchased by the aforesaid THOMAS MEADOR of RACHEL JORDAIN and WILLIAM HUTSON as by their Deed to him the said THOMAS MEADOR dated the 13th day of October 1739 doth further appear and Bounded Beginning at the Head of a branch cane( the SPRING BRANCH by the ROAD side and running thence South West to a Corner Hickory standing on a Levil thence North by East to the aforesaid Spring Branch finally up the said Branch ye Several Courses thereof to the place where it first began with all houses and Hereidatiments to the same belonging To Have and To Hold the said land and premises unto the said WILLIAM ALLEN his heirs and assigns forever. ALLEN should dy without heirs then the said Land I do give unto my next youngest Son ANDREW ALLEN Lawful begotten of my body to him and to his heirs forever and if my Son ANDREW ALLEN should die without heirs then the sd land and all its appurtenances to return to the next surviving Heir at Law of my body begotten to them and their heirs forever to be held of our Sovereign Lord the King his heirs and Successors by the qt rents acres above prescribed.
