      THIS INDENTURE made this 21st day of March 1774 Between GEORGE CATLETT of County of CAROLINE of one part and ROBERT KAY of County of Culpeper of other part Witnesseth that said George Catlett for sum of Four hundred and seventy seven pounds current money of Virginia hath granted unto said Robert Kay his heirs forever a parcel of land in County of Culpeper on Jonas's Run and containing by menseration Four hundred and forty eight acres of land which said Four hundred and forty eight acres is the said George Catletts Lott or part of a tract of land containing One thousand Five hundred and twenty eight acres formerly the property of JOHN CATLETT Gent deceased and Divided between his Sons LAWRENCE, JONATHAN, GEORGE & THOMAS CATLETT by a Survey made by BENJAMIN BERRY the 12th day of May 1764 and recorded in the Court of Culpeper the 21st day of July 1768 also one other parcel of land which the said George Catlett. purchased of WILLIAM VAUGHN it being part of a great tract which said Vaughn purchased of THOMAS CATLETTs part of the aforesaid One thousand Five hundred and twenty eight acres of land containing Twenty nine acres and bounded as follows Beginning at two white oaks in the Dividing line between said William Vaughn and George Catlett in a glade about a pole from an old field thence leaving said line South to a mulberry tree in the edge of an old field on a branch thence South town ash on Jonas's Run thence up the said Run to a cluster of Haws on the North side of said Run near the said Dividing line thence with the line to the Beginning . .

      THIS INDENTURE made the Tenth day of October 1774 Between ROBERT KAY and MARGRET his Wife of the Parish of Saint Marks and County of Culpeper and JAMES KAY and SARAH his Wife of County of CAROLINE of the one part and THOMAS GRAVES of the Parish of Brumfield and County of Culpeper of other part Wit-nesseth that said Robert Kay and Margret his Wife and James Kay and Sarah his Wife for sum of One hundred pounds current money of Virginia hath granted unto Thomas Graves his heirs a tract of land in the County of Culpeper containing Four hundred acres it being a Patent granted to JOHN GATH and bounded Beginning at three hickories on the side of a Mountain thence South West to three chesnuts in a Valley thence South South East to three chesnuts North to a Cherry tree to the beginning . .

      George the Third to ROBERT GILCHRIST and JAMES TAYLOR Gentlemen Whereas Robert Kay and Margret his Wife of County of Culpeper and James Kay and Sarah his Wife of County of Caroline have sold unto Thomas Graves land in said County of Culpeper and whereas the said Sarah cannot travel to our County Court of Culpeper to make acknowledgement of the said Conveyance we do command you to personally go to the said Sarah and Examine her apart from her husband whether she doth the same freely and when you have received her acknowledgement that you Certifie us thereof in our said Court. Witness JOHN JAMESON Clerk at the Courthouse the Eleventh in the Fourteen year of our Reign.
      Pursuant to the within Commission we have privately examined Sarah Kay and said Sarah Kay doth freely and volentarily acknowledge this Indenture without the threats of her said Husband. Given under our hands and seals this 14th day of October 1774.

      THIS INDENTURE made this 19th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety two Between GEORGE GRAY of County of Culpeper of one part and PHILIP ROOTES THOMPSON of County aforesaid of other part Witnesseth that whereas GEORGE GRAY stands and acknowledges himself justly indebted to said PHILIP ROOTES THOMPSON in the full and just sum of Five hundred and eighty pounds with lawful Interest on the same from the eleventh day of February in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety one, And GEORGE GRAY being desirous of making said PHILIP ROOTES THOMPSON secure of receiving the sum of money with interest when said THOMPSON shall demand the same, by mortgaging to the same PHILIP ROOTES THOMPSON a certain tract of land containing Five hundred and eighty eight acres (more or less), NOW THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH that GEORGE GRAY in consideration of the premises and the further sum of Five shillings to him in hand paid by these presents doth bargain sell and confirm unto PHILIP ROOTES THOMPSON his heirs four tracts of land lying in abovementioned County upon JONAS RUN bounded as is mentioned in a Deed made to said GEORGE GRAY by ROBERT KAY and PEGGY his Wife and of Record in the County Court of Culpeper containing by said Deed Five hundred and eighty eight acres and composing the whole of the tract of land whereon GEORGE GRAY now liveth, Together with the rents issues and profits thereof; To have and to hold the four tracts of land unto PHILIP ROOTES THOMPSON his heirs free and clear from the claims of any persons, Provided and upon condition that if GEORGE GRAY shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto PHILIP ROOTES THOMPSON his heirs the aforesaid sum with interest from the time aforesaid untill the same shall be paid, Then this Indenture bargain sale and conveyance shall cease and be void; And it is agreed between the parties to these presents that until Default shall be made in the condition herein-before contained that said GEORGE GRAY may hold the Lands and premises to his own proper use: In Witness whereof the said GEORGE GRAY hath to these Indentures set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written
