Jan. 25, 1862 - "The Evening Star," pub. in Washington, D.C. Fell asleep in Jesus, triumphant in the hope of a blissful immortality, at her residence (Fairview) in Prince George's Co., on the morning of the 24th instant, Mrs. Julia E. Dement in the 74th year of her age. Her funeral will take place on Sunday the 26th instant at 11 o'clock a.m. The friends of the family are invited to attend.

In her book, "Dements Through the Ages," Vol. 1, p. 31, Marilyn Holmes states:
--that Julia was a dau. of Clement and Margaret Kennedy of Maryland,
--that Julia Dement purchased lots #221-230 in range 35 of the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C., and that Julia is buried in site 221 and William is in site 222.
June 4, 1853 - Julia E. Dement, age about 60, resident of Prince George's Co., widow of William Dement, applies for bounty land based on William Dement's War of 1812 service. Julia states that William served as a private in Capt. Thompson and Capt. Fendall's Companys. Julia states that she and William were married in Georgetown, District of Columbia on Feb. 21, 1815 by Rev. Greentree, Methodist
Episcopal Minister, that her former name was Julia E. Kennedy, and that William Dement died in Prince George's Co. on June 14, 1834.
On Apr. 23, 1855, Julia E. Dement, age 66, resident of Prince George's Co., states that she and William were married on Feb. 21, 1814 [sic] in Georgetown. Samuel C. Smoot and Suttin R. Smoot, nephews of Julia E. Dement, support her application. Julia received 120 acres of bounty land.
