Charles County Land Records 1782-1786; Liber Z#3; Page 21. Deposition, recorded at the request of John Harbin. The Deposition of Leanner Harbin, who deposes that, in 1782, Nicholas Serlott came to her husband, John Harbin's house, 3 different times, and by him was treated very ill each time. In the first place, he insisted that I should come to sd Serlott's store and deal with him to the half of my sd husband's estate without his knowledge of the same, which she, this Deponent, refused, and told him that she Was not in want of decent clothing, and that if she was, she did not choose to deal with any person without his leave. He then tried to persuade me to leave my husband and come to live with him, and that he would keep me a lady, for that I must be a damned fool to live with such a man as John Harbin so long as I had, to which I answered that Mr. Harbin had always used me well, and that. I was very happy with him. Sd Serlott then said he should be glad to gain my favor to ride in the woods with him. I then replied I would not. He then said if I would consent to go with him, he would give me a chintz gown for a night with me, and further said that if I would leave John Harbin and live with him, he would give me the horse that he then had there, all of which she refused, and asked him why he should have such an opinion of her as to make such offers, and that he had treated her ill, and that she would inform Mr. Harbin of his behavior when he returned home. Feb 18, 1786 from John Harbin of CC, planter, to George Morton of CC, for 9200 lbs of crop tobacco, part of a tract of land in CC called Strife, bounded by a tract of land called Scale of Head, containing about 61.33 acres. Signed - John Harbin. Wit - John Morton, Bennt Dyson. Leanna, wife to the sd John Harbin, relinquished her right of dower to the lands within mentioned. Recorded Apr 4, 1786.

Wit Richd Barnes*, Sam Hanson Jr*, Leanna, wife to the sd John Harbin, relinquished her right of dower to the within mentioned land. Recorded Nov 8, 1786.

Charles County Land Records 1792-1796; Liber N#4; Page 529. Jan 26, 1796 from Leanner Harbin of CC, to Thomas Waters of CC, a third part of a tract of land called strife in CC, being the same that her husband, John Harbin now decd) formerly lived on and held in his own right. Sd Leanner being a lawful widow of sd John, and claiming a third of the afd land and premises as tenant, in dower of sd John, and hereby agrees to relinquish to sd Waters, the afd third part of part of a tract of land, for 7 shillings & 6 pence per acre. Signed. - Leanner (+ her mark) Harbin. Wit - Alexr McPherson*, Walyer Dyson*.

Charles County Land Records 1796-1799; Liber IB-2 {Abstract by Mike Marshall}; Page 489. Deed: at the request of Jonathan Parker, the following deed was recorded January 31st 1799.
Indenture January 21, 1799; between Joseph Green late Sheriff of CC of one part and Jonathan Parker of the other part. Witnesseth on May 31, 1796 two writs of fieri facias were issued by CC court to the sheriff commanding him that of the land and tenements which were of John Harbin which were in the possession of George Morton and Leanna Harbin, tenants of John Harbin late of CC and cause to be levied one for the sum of 1,610 pounds of crop tobacco cost of suit, as also the quantity of 289 pounds of tobacco cost of suit, and the other for the quantity of 6,875 pounds of neat tobacco and the sum of 10 pounds 2 shillings and 1 penny half penny current money certain damages as the quantity of 563 pounds of tobacco for his costs and charges; and further that he should have those sums before the justices of the CC court to be held at Charles Town on the 3rd Monday in August then next to render to a certain Jonathan Parker for the debts and costs aforesaid. Whereof the said George Morton and Leanna Harbin, tenants of John Harbin were convict as it appears of record. And should also have then and there the said writs, on which said 3rd Monday in August 1796 the said Joseph Green late sheriff made return thereof to the Justices that by virtue of the said writs to him directed he had levied on 40 acres of land to satisfy the debts and costs therein mentioned which premises in his hands unsold by order of the plaintiff so that he could not have the said debt and costs before the said Justices as by the said writs he was commanded and whereas the said land so as aforesaid levied remaining unsold by order of Plaintiff as by the said sheriff's return appeared, two writs of venditioni exponas did issue out of the said county court one February 20, 1797 commanding the sheriff that he should expose to sale and the tobacco and money therefrom arising be brought before the justices of peace at court held at Charles Town on the 3rd Monday of March next to render the Jonathan Parker the debts and costs aforesaid and he should execute the said writs that he made known to the said justices. And the sheriff after due notice being given did expose the 40 acres of land to public sale and whereas the said Jonathan Parker became the highest bidder and purchaser for the quantity of 2,000 pounds crop tobacco and desirous of obtaining a title. Now this Indenture Witnesseth for in consideration of 10 shillings to Joseph Green late Sheriff of CC in hand paid by the said Jonathan Parker has assigned forever the aforesaid 40 acres which was taken by two writs of fieri facias and sold by two writs of venditioni exponas.
