1691-1692 Stafford County, Virginia Order Book [Antient Press];
At a Court held for the County of Stafford at the House of THOMAS ELSEY March the 11th 1690.
2. SAMUEL WHITSON who Intermarried with ELIZABETH the widow and relict of John SKEEL late of this County deced and one of the Exectrs appointed in his last will and Testament with JOHN SIMSON of this County on the behalf of the child the other Executor appointed therein came into Court and made humble petition for administration Cum Testamento annexed of the Estate of the said John Skeele deced to the intent that they may pay all debts and performe what was required of there touching the said Estate in the said deceds will they being ready to give Security and Enter into bond to perform what the Law shall require of them touching the said state.
And the Court having fully and maturely considered the premises doe accordingly order that the said Samuel Whitson in the right of Elizabeth his said wife and John Simson for and on behalf of the Child shall have administration Cum Testamento annexed of the Estate of the said John Skeele which said will was proved by the Oaths and Testimonies of Mr. EDWARD THOMASON and ELLIS ROBERTS Witnesses to the said will Subscribed provided that the said Samuel Whitson and John Simson shall give good Security and Enter into bond to perform what the Law shall require of them Touching the said Estate.

Capt. GEORGE MASON became Security with the aforesaid Samuel Whitson and John Simson to perform what the Law requires of them Touching the said Estate and Entered into Bond accordingly. Ordered by this Court that JOSEPH WHITSON, THOMAS NORMAN and JEFFRY WOOD doe on Thursday the 19th Instant appraise the Estate of the aforesaid John Skeele deced or any two of them and that Mr. Edward Thomason Swear them accordingly.

360. EDWARD THOMASON of this County Gent complaining sheweth that JOHN SKEELE late of this County decd at the time of his death stood justly indebted to the Plt the sum of Thirteen hundred and five pounds of Tobacco due per account hath brought his action against SAMUEL WHITSON as Intermarrieing the widow and Executrix of John Skeele .. And Samuel Whitson in Qualification came into Court and confessed Judgmt. unto the said Edward Thomason for the said sum .. Therefore tis ordered that Samuel Whitson in Qualification shall make present payment of said sum ..
