Page KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that wee BARTHOLEMEW and CHARLES FLEMMiNGE of ye County of RAPPAHANACK have sold unto Capta. MALACHY PEALE a Certain tract of land of Three hundred &fifteen acres &doe by these presents sell the aforesaid Tract it beinge in ye freshes of ye RAPPAHANOCK of ye North side of the River the said lande beinge by Mr. JOHN & GEORGE MOTT unto PETER GALLEN & ye said PETER GALLEN demised unto THOMAS CHAPMAN & by he said THOMAS CHAP-MAN sold unto JOHN FOSSAKER & made over from ye said JOHN FOSSAKER unto JOHN BARTHOLOMEW & FLEMMINGE as may by Deeds & writeings more att large appease ye said tract of land beinge part of a Divident formerly belonginge to JOHN &GEORGE MOTT above named heginninge att a Corner tree by a Path side & runninge N. to PAZBETANZE BRANCHES thence over Stony hill So. East to a red oake thence South divideinge this land from ye lande of Mr. JOHN CREEDE to a corner Red oake by ye Swamp as au Ea, & thence where it first begun being survaid by MR. GEORGE MORRIS To Have and To Hold from ye said JOHN BARTHOLOMEW & CHARLES FLEMMINGE or either of us wee owninge to have reced of Capt. p. 212a KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that f THEODIRICK BLAND Surveyor of ye County of Stafford, doe by reason of Sickness & disability wch makes mee att present incapable of discharging my duty appoint Mr. WM., BUCKNER of ye said County dureinge my disability or absence to officiate for mee beinge well satisfied both of ability & his integrity therein the said WM. BUCKNER rendering to me a true accompt of all ye Surveys hee makes and what other profits shall accrue by Surveying & I doe by these presents make valid all worke ye said WM BUCKNER shall due by venue of these presents_ Wittness my hande & Seale this 6th day of October 1691

446. THEODRICK BLAND humbly complaining sheweth that the plt was sent for last Spring 1691/2 by Mr. THOMAS GREGGE SENR, to lay out a Tract of Land in dispute between him the said Gregge Senr. and Mr. JOHN WAUGH minister where the plt accordingly came to doe his office but was forbid by the said John Waugh who said that the lande was his and had break the chain upon which the said Thomas Gregge bid the plt proceed and stretch his chain and he would pay him upon which words of the said Thomas Gregge the plt according to his duty of his office proceeded and Stretcht his chain which was immediately taken up and cut in Two by the said John Waugh by which means the Survey was Stopt and the plt disabled from further proceeding after which the plt demanded his pay of the said Thomas Gregg it being four hundred and ninty pounds of Tobacco and Caske according to the Laws and Customs of this Colony but was denyed payment for which the plt hath brought his action to this Court and humbly prayes Judgment with costs of Suite. And now forasmuch as Theodrick Blande the plt did Justly make appeare his debt to be due as aforesaid from Thomas Gregge Senr the deft. Therefore tis ordered that Thomas Gregge Senr. shall make pre-sent payment of the said Sum unto Theodrick Bland with costs.

451. THEODRICK BLAND complaining sheweth that some time last Spring the plt had a horse which was Esteemed for his Extraordinary goodnesse and courage by the plt which horse went over from Capt. GEORGE MASONS where I then lived and kept him to Mr. FOSSAKERS at aquia where ROBERT ROBINS being then.
Mr. Fossakers overseer maliciously and despite fully broke the horses leg which fostered fly blowed and gangreend so that the horse dyed there being no Possibility of cure which was to the plts damage great Costs and hindrance of his business which at that time was very great it being to the pits damage and losse Seven thousand pounds of Tobacco for which the pit most humbly craves Judgment with costs of Suite. And Robert Robins the deft by ROBERT BRENT his attorney came into Court and for plea saith not guilty in manner and forme following and for Tryail puts himself upon the Country and the plt likewise. Therefore tis ordered that the Jury Enquire the fact. JONATHAN PARKER, WM. DOWNING, DAVID DARNELL, GEORGE LYLES, JOSEPH NEWTON, WILLIAM WILLIAMS, ANDREW BARBEY, AUGUSTINE KNEATON, FRANCIS HUNT, JOHN HIGGISON, JAMES MONKE, THOMAS DERRICK Jr. which said Jurors being Elected Tryed and Sworne to say the Truth
of the premises doe say upon their oaths we find for the plt one thousand pounds of Tobacco. Therefore tis ordered that Judgment shall be entered on the Verdict of the Jury and that the said Robert Robins the deft shall pay unto Theodrick Bland the sum of one thousand pounds of Tobacco with costs. Ordered that Theodrick Blande shall pay the Jury Seventy Two pounds of Tobacco alias Execution. Ordered that Theodrick Bland shall pay unto Mr. RICHARD FOSSAKER Three hundred and Sixty pounds of Tobacco for his Servant DOROTHY PAGET attendance nine days and Two hundred and forty pounds of Tobacco unto WILLIAM PAGE SENR. for his Six dayes attendance and Two hundred end forty pounds of Tobacco to PATRICK ELEVERY for his six dayes attendance at Court in a Suit depending between him and Robt. Robins with costs. Ordered that Robert Robins shall pay unto Capt. GEORGE MASON the sum of two hundred and forty pounds of Tobacco for his Servant HENRY SMITH attendance at Court in a Suit depending between him and Theodrick Blande with costs.

361, THEODRICK BLAND complains against WILLIAM MATHENEY in a plea of debt ..that your worships ordered the Plt to lay out the land of DANIEL MATHENEY deced between his son William Matheney and his mother that she might have her thirds in obedience to which order the Plt went Twice to the house of the said Widow Matheney the first time they being unprovided for him and there agreed the differences between the said widow and her said son William Matheney and laid out her thirds to both their contents and good Liking and in the cheapest manner for where your Petitioner made one survey he might have made three but considering the said William Matheney was a young man and not of any great ability and being alsoe involved in Law was unwilling to put him to the charge of three surveys yet notwithstanding the Plt was soe favourable to William Matheney and that the Plt hath lain already one year out of his said Tobacco, the said William Matheney doth deny payment of the Plt of his debt which is five hundred and twenty pounds of Tobacco and Caske and alsoe refuses to give bill for next year altho it be his Just due to pay it being what the Law allows the Plt who therefore prays Judgment for the same .. And William Matheney came into Court and could say nothing in Barr or preclusion of the debt but that five hundred pounds of Tobacco is due as afsd Therefore tis ordered that William Matheney shall make present payment of the said sum .. of Tobacco unto Theodrick Bland with costs --

402. AMBROSE BAYLEY came into Court and confessed Judgment to THEODRICK BLAND for the sum four hundred pounds of Tobacco due him by bill .. Wherefore It is considered by this Court that Ambrose Bayley shall make present payment of the said sum .. of Tobacco unto Theodrick Bland with costs.

Indenture 14th September 1698 between WILLIAM DOWNING in county Stafford Planter of one part and JOHN TRAMMILL of parish Cople in county Westmoreland Planter Witnesseth for sum four thousand five hundred pounds good sound Merchantable Tobo. & cask .. sold parcel of land containing by estimation 969 acres lying on main run of Potomack Creek in county Stafford bounded .. beginning at a Spanish oak standing on brink of Potomack Creek at the upper end of the low grounds .. along the line of a tract of land of Mr. THEODERICK BLAND to Potomack Run .. the said land was surveyed for Mr. RICHARD PASKER Janry. 4th.1692 and by him sold to JOHN PIKE and by him sold to THOMAS WALLIS who pattented the same and conveyed it to William Downing ..
