      William Rowe’s Will
      In the name of God Amen, I William Rowe of Washington Parish in the county of Westmoreland do make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following;
      First, I give to my daughter Jane Pope Rowe the following slaves; Daniel, Sam, Pegg, Lucy, Winney, Jack, Ben, Dick, Bess, Harry and Kate. Also the feather bed and furniture that stands in the hall shed and she may have a horse and saddle purchased for her.
      I give to my grand daughter Elizabeth Fox, Negro girl Milly.
      I give my whole tract of land to my daughter Anjalellah [Angelica] Fox and to the heirs of her body.
      Item I give all th rest of my slaves to my daughter Anjalellah [Angelica] Fox.
      Tis my desire my wife may have one feather bed and furniture and the use any room in the house, provided she chooses it.
      All the rest of my estate may be equall divided beween my two daughters.
      Tis my desire my estate may not be appraised, but that three honest men may be chosen to set apart and divide the personal estate after the legacies are paid.
      I appoint my son in law Joseph Fox my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament.
      In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of May 1768.

      At a court held for Westmoreland County the 27th day of September 1768 this will was proved according to law by James Degge and George Monroe witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded; and on the motion of Joseph Fox, the executor therein named who made oath thereto according to law and together with William Smith his security entered into and acknowledged bond with condition as law directs, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form. Teste.
