VIRGINIA GLEANINGS IN ENGLAND; The Virginia Magazine of History and Biography; [THE HON'BLE] BENJAMIN TASKER of the City of Annapoles, Esq. Will 15 February 1766; proved 30 December 1768.
To my wife Ann the dwelling house and lots adjoining and all plate and personal estate, she to be executrix, Land and negroes, to be sold and produce divided between her and my children.
To my daughter Anna Ogle £2500.
To daughter Rebecca Dulany £2500.
To daughter Elizabeth Lowndes, wife of Mr. Christopher Lowndes, £2500 to be used in trust for her during her husband's lifetime.
To daughter Frances Carter, wife of Robert Carter in Virginia, £2500. Whereas the late Governor Ogle left me one of his executors, and each of his daughters £1000, already paid his eldest daughter, to his youngest daughter to be paid as on my Book of Accounts, marked S. 0. fol. 40.
To my four grandsons which are my godsons, viz: Benjamin Ogle, son of the late Governor Ogle, Daniel, son of Daniel Dulany Esq., Benjamin son of Christopher Lowndes, and Benjamin, son of Robert Carter of Virginia, £1000 each.
To my daughter Anne Ogle, Mr. Christopher Lowndes, and Robert Carter £1000 in Bank of England for use of Benjamin Benson when 21, meanwhile the interest for his education in some public school in Great Britain. As my son Benjamin Tasker, deceased, by his will desired me to sell his real estate, I make the aforesaid three his executors or any two of them. As two tracts of land in Frederick County one called Vine containing -, the other the Will, containing 100 acres, belonging to late Governor Ogle were patented to Mr. William Steuart and by him conveyed to me I give them to Benjamin Ogle heir at law to the said Governor.
Witnesses: Joseph Galloway, Sam'l Galloway, And'w Buchanan. Before Walter Dulany, Commissary General, 4 July 1768 Ann the widow swears to above will. Administration with will annexed to Osgood Hanbury and William Anderson attorneys for Anne Tasker, relict, in Prerogative Court of Canterbury for receiving dues and transferring £10,000 in Capital Stock of Bank of England, except £1000 thereof, etc. Second grant 20 November 1770 to James Anderson of Great Tower Hill in parish of St. Olave Hart Street London, Merchant, as one of attorneys for Ann Tasker, widow, residing in Annapolis, on transferring £5000, part of £9,950 in Bank of England to Anne Ogle of Annapolis, widow and Benjamin Ogle of ditto gentleman, also £3950 to said Benjamin Ogle, also £I000 to said Ann Ogle of said Annapolis, Royal and Christopher Lownds and Robert Carter, Esquires. Administration of goods in Kingdom of England 3 November 1772 to said James Anderson of Great Tower Hill, St. Olave Hart Street, London, Merchant, attorney

Benjamin Carter's Will
In the Name of God Amen, Benjamin Carter son of the Honorable Robert Carter of the colony of Virginia being in declining state of health, but of sound mind memory and understanding declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
Whereas my grand father Benjamin Tasker, late of the province of Maryland, Esq., deceased did bequeath to me the sum of 1000 pounds sterling money of Great Britain to be paid when I shall arrive to the age of 21 years. Also my grand mother Mrs. Ann Tasker, late of the province of Maryland, deceased did bequeath to me a like sum of 1000 pounds sterling money of Great Britain, which 2000 pounds and all interests demandable thereon, I do dispose of in the following manner.
First I bequeath to my father Robert Carter, Esquire the above mentioned 2000 pounds sterling with all interest.
I do constitute and appoint my father Robert Carter, Esq., executor of this my testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th day of May 1776.

At a court held for Westmoreland County the 29th day of June 1779 this will was presented to the court and proved to be the hand writing of the testator, the same is therefore ordered to be recorded; and on the motion of Robert Carter the executor therein named who made oath thereto according to law and together with David Boyd his security entered into and acknowledged bond with condition as the law directs, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.

THIS INDENTURE made the 5 day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty four; Between ROBERT CARTER of Cople Parish in County of Westmorland, Gent., of one part and JOHN TIDWELL of the same Parish and County of other part; Witnesseth that ROBERT CARTER in consideration of the yearly Rents and Covenants hereinafter mentioned on the behalf of JOHN TIDWELL his heirs to be paid done and performed, hath and by these presents doth demise lease and to farm let unto JOHN TIDWELL his heirs all that tract of land called BRUNT's lying in Parish of Cople and County of Westmorland and bounded; Beginning at a red Chesnut Oak in JOSEPH STONE's line at the head of a Branch, running down the Branch to the head of a Gutt, thence down the Gutt into the Creek, then up the Creek to the head, from thence up the Branch by the water course to STURMAN's line, thence along the same to JOSEPH STONE's corner, from then to the beginning; And JOHN TIDWELL may sell any Timber made into Carts, Tumbrils and Wheels within the said bounds but not any other benefit from the wood thereon but for the use of the Estate, together with all houses commodities profitts and hereditaments to the same belonging; only that part of the line which mentions running down the Gutt into the Creek, ROBERT CARTER attend to run a little above the foot of the Hill from the Gutt to the Creek, to keep all the Marsh that joyns his opposite land, ROBERT CARTER may make a Fence from the Gutt to the Creek with the Timber on the Hill sides but all the rest to have and to hold the tract of land with appurtenances unto JOHN TIDWELL his heirs during the life of ROBERT CARTR, paying therefore yearly during the term to ROBERT CARTER his heirs the rent of fifteen hundred pounds of new tobacco if made on the Estate, one thousand and fifty in one cask and the remainder in transferr notes, these rents always to be paid from some Warehouse in Westmorland County on the twenty fifth day in every year, the said TIDWELL his heirs paying the yearly rents and performing the covenants above mentioned on their parts reserved and contain'd shall and lawfully may peaceably and quiety have and possess the demised premises during the life of ROBERT CARTER without the hindrance of ROBERT CARTER his heirs or any person claiming under him and ROBERT CARTER shall warrant and forever defend; In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written
