George Mackall Of Piney Point
George Mackall at his death in 1676 left a widow and four daughters. What became of widow and three oldest daughters is not known. The youngest (Rachel) I believe married Benjamin Mauldin of Calvert County, and settled on land willed her by her father, in Cecil Co.

Very recently I received some information that I believe furnishes the solution as to what became of the youngest daughter of George Mackall of Saint Mary's Co.
George Mackall died in 1675 and in his will he left two tracts of land in what is now Cecil Co, Md., "then known as Baltimore Co," to his youngest daughter, Rachel Mackall. The tracts were known respectively as Maggy's Jointure and Hepburns Choice, each containing 100 acres. Benjamin Mauldin of Calvert County, married a Miss Mackall (whom I believe to have been the above mentioned Rachel Mackall) and settled in Cecil Co.; A son of theirs known as Col. Francis Mauldin of Cecil County, married, his wife's name is unknown and their daughter Anne Mauldin married in 1727 Zebulon Hollingsworth. The Hollingsworth families of Maryland and Delaware are descendents of this union, as are also the descendents of Dr. Richard Covington Mackall, 1820/1902, who married l/2/l85 Isabel Hollingsworth, 1830/1893.

I am less enthusiastic than Louis C. Mackall to declare James Mackall and George Mackall to be brothers. There is simply no primary evidence that I have seen that would suggest a sibling relationship. I see nothing in the wills, nothing in naming patterns, nothing in property transactions, nothing in witnessing, nothing in court business.
It is noted, however, that: 1) Rachel Mackall married Benjamin Mauldin of Calvert Co. whose property adjoined that of James Mackall; 2) George Mackall names in his will Robert Grahame as his friend and James Mackall married a Mary Grahame in Maryland; 3) George, as did the early Calvert County Mackall family, spelled his name Maccall.
My own theory, entirely speculative, would argue that George Mackall and James Mackall are related; maybe brothers. Judging from his wealth, George Mackall might have transported James Mackall to Maryland. This could explain the lack of documentation that normally associates itself with the Scottish Prisoners or indentured servants. Hopefully time will unearth something.

We have not been able to find (much less prove) any relationship whatsoever between James and George Mackall. There is a Grahame relationship in each of these men's lives as James married (a) Mary Grahame in America (presumably Maryland) and George acknowledged (a) Robert Grahame as his friend. But we do not know if Mary Grahame and Robert Grahame are related. Last I heard there was no proof that George Mackall married Anne Watts; but I am a littleout of that loop. These Scots in early Maryland stuck together and so it would surprise me little to find Robert and Mary Grahame closely related and that be a link between James and George Mackall; unfortunately it does not make them kinsmen.
