      To 2 sons Joseph Sprigg and Osborn Sprigg, all several parcels of land in the county afsd., pts, of tract called Darnall's Grove" to be equally divided bet. them by Thomas Gantt, Jr. and Thomas Waring, and It is my desire that they will make the division as soon as they conveniently can; that the bounds and levies thereof, may be known and settled, and one pt. thereof to be hold by sd. son Joseph, and the other pt. by sd. son Osborn, and their hrs. forever. In case either of them dye before he comes of age, It Is my will that the other shall have his pt. of the sd. lands to be enjoyed by him.

      Indenture made November 24, 1760; Between Joseph Sprigg, Gentleman of one part and William Bowie, Gentleman of the other part. Whereas Osborn Sprigg, late of PGCo by his certain writing obligatory bound himself unto the commissioners or trustees for emitting the bills of credit established by the act of assembly in the sum of 160 pounds lawful money of the province with the condition thereunder written for the payment of 80 pounds with legal interest and whereas the aforesaid trustees on October 2, 1758 did issue a fieri facias directed to the sheriff of PGCo and by virtue of the writ made on the the lands and tenements of Osborn Sprigg to recover the aforesaid sum, the sherriff exposed part of a tract called "Darnall's Grove" containing 593-1/2 acres to the highest bidder which was purchased by the said Joseph Sprigg for 650 pounds current money out of which money he had paid and satisfied the commissioners the principal, interest and costs. Now this indenture witnesseth that Joseph Sprigg in consideration of 326 pounds and 6 pence sterling paid by William Bowie has sold part of "Darnall's Grove" containing 310 acres beginning on the south side of the road that leads from the chapel to Bladensburgh and opposite the fork of the road that leads towards Snowden's Ironworks and running to the road that leads from the Brick Church to the Ironworks, bounded by Benjamin Duvall's part of "Darnall's Grove", "Samuels Choice" (also a part of Darnall's Grove"), the corner of land now in possession of William Bowie (also a part of Darnall's Grove"). Signed Joseph Sprigg in the presence of Robert Tyler, Thomas Williams and acknowledged before Robert Tyler and at the same time Hannah Sprigg w/o Joseph Sprigg relinquished her right of dower

      1767-1769 Prince George's County, Maryland Land Records Liber BB 2 [Abstract by Mike Marshall]; Page 351. At the request of Joseph Sprigg the following Deed was recorded February 1, 1769
      Indenture made January 30, 1769; between Ann Tasker of Annapolis, executrix, widow and relict of Benjamin Tasker, Esq., deceased of one part and Joseph Sprigg, Gentleman of PGCo of the other part. Whereas Benjamin Tasker by his last will did empower Ann Tasker to sell all his lands (his dwelling house and Annapolis and the lots thereto adjoining excepted) as soon as conveniently might be done and in pursuance of the said power and authority did agree with the said Joseph Sprigg to sell unto him part of the land called "Enfield Chase" by written agreement bearing date November 29, 1768 at the rate of 1 pound 15 shillings sterling per acre. Now this indenture witness that Ann Tasker in consideration of 870 pounds 12 shillings and 6 pence sterling money has sold and conveyed by these presents unto Joseph Sprigg part of the aforesaid tract called "Enfield Chase" containing 497 ½ acres lying on the west side of Collington Branch and bounded by the northeast corner of a tract now in possession of Notley Young called "Pye Anna's Grove" being part of Collington Manor and the road that leads through the track towards the Chapel.       Indenture made September 6, 1773; between Joseph Sprigg, Gentleman eldest son and heir of Osborn Sprigg, deceased and Thomas Williams, Gentleman eldest son and heir of Thomas Williams, deceased who was the eldest son and heir of Thomas Williams, deceased of one part and Mary Williams wife of Thomas Owen Williams and Amelia Berry daughters of Jeremiah Berry, deceased of the other part. Whereas Benjamin Berry, deceased by his indenture bearing date July 22, 1747 did sell unto Osborn Sprigg and Thomas Williams, the grandfather, the following tracts of land, viz.; "Long Lane" containing 77 acres, "Berry's Grove" containing 70 acres and "Berry's Fancy" containing 230 acres upon condition that if Benjamin Berry Berry should well and truly pay unto Osborn Sprigg and Thomas Williams, the grandfather the full and just sum of 50 pounds 15 shillings sterling with legal interest at or upon May 1, 1748 then this indenture to cease and be utterly void and whereas May 1, 1748 has ellapsed and Benjamin Berry is dead without having redeemed the mortgage or in any sort complied with the condition aforesaid and the said Jeremiah Berry, deceased in his lifetime having paid and satisfied the legal representatives of Osborn Sprigg and Thomas Williams, the grandfather the mortgage money with legal interest by his testament and last will devised the several parcels to his daughters the aforesaid Mary Berry and Amelia Berry. Now this indenture witnesseth that Joseph Sprigg and Thomas Williams in consideration of the premises and of 5 shillings sterling money paid by Mary Williams and Amelia Berry has confirmed unto them the aforesaid tracts of land. Signed Joseph Sprigg, Thomas Williams in the presence of and acknowledged before Joshua Beall, Jeremiah Magruder and at the same time Hannah Sprigg wife of Joseph Sprigg and Rachel Williams wife of Thomas Williams relinquished their right of dower

      indenture made February 10, 1774; Joseph Sprigg, planter in consideration of 150 pounds sterling paid by Thomas Sprigg, Jr. farmer has sold all that tract whereon my father Mr. Osborn Sprigg dwelt and called "North Hampton"; also part of another adjoining tract called "Kettering", part of a tract called "The Addition to Kettering" and part of a tract called "Harts Delight" which said tracts were on March 20, 1759 sold to the aforesaid Joseph Sprigg by the Sheriff of PGCo on account of a debt due from Osborn Sprigg to the commissioners of the paper currency office of this province; also all several tracts of land which the said Joseph Sprigg brought of George Frazier Magruder and all that parcel of land which was on about the year 1758 conveyed by Clement Hill unto Joseph Sprigg and his mother Rachel Sprigg and where on standeth a water mill.       Indenture made June 21, 1775; Thomas Sprigg, farmer in consideration of 2000 pounds sterling paid by Osborn Sprigg, planter has sold all that tract whereon Osborn Sprigg, deceased father of the said Thomas Sprigg and Osborn Sprigg formerly dwelt called North Hampton; part of anadjoining tract called "Kittering", Addition to Kettering, and part of Hart's Delight which several tracts were on March 20, 1759 sold to Joseph Sprigg by the Sheriff of PGCo on account of a debt due from Osborn Sprigg, deceased to the commissioners of the paper currency office of the province; also those several tracts which Joseph Sprigg bought of George Fraser Magruder and that tract which was on or about 1758 sold and conveyed by Clement Hill to Joseph Sprigg by his mother Rachel Sprigg and where on standeth a water mill.
