Daniel Porter's Will
In the Name of God Amen, I Daniel Porter of the County of Westmoreland and Parish of Cople being in good health and in sound but duly considering the uncertainty of my life I do make this my last will and testament.
I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Porter all my estate I am possessed with consisting of Negro Daniel, beds, stock of all kinds, and all and everything I am possessed, debts due to me, and working tools.
Item if the said Benjamin Porter deceased without heirs then my wife to have her natural life in my estate, then for failure of such heirs to William Dozier Porter and his heirs, and for failure of such heirs to John Porter and Ned Porter, sons of William Porter. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 8th September 1781.

I appoint my wife and my brother William Porter while all the executors.
At a Court held for Westmoreland County the 28th day of October 1783 this will was proved according to law by the oath of William Porter a witness thereto and ordered to be recorded and at a court held for the said County the 30th day of March 1784 the executors named in will having refused to take upon themselves the burthen of the execution thereof, on the motion of Elizabeth Porter who made oath thereto according to law him together with William Robinson Dozier and Vincent Marmaduke her securities entered into and acknowledged bond with condition as the law directs, certificate is granted her for obtaining letters of administration with the said will annexed in due form.
