Charles County Land Records, Liber M#2 Page 185. At the request of Daniel Morphey of CC, the following depositions were recorded Nov 28, 1729.
Nov 6, 1729. Came Thomas Dyson, aged about 41 years, and made oath that he was at a place where Preist Hubbert kept Church, and that he, this deponent, saw Danl Morphey decd and his wife Rachell, and with them a child about a year old, which the priest then christened by the name of William, and that the deponent heard the sd Danl say that he was married about 1, 2, or 3 months before that time, which was in Feb. Nov 6, 1729. Came John Gates, aged about 49 years, and made oath that Daniel Morphey of CC, decd, was not married to his wife Rachell until she had a base born child, which was called and known by the name of William, and that of edwards sd Rachell was lawfully married by Common Discourse, unto sd Daniel Morphey, and that after the marriage, sd Rachell had a son born who is now called Daniel.
